I was super excited to get the eArc for this beauty, I looooved the Mercenary and the Mortician, and I knew this would be just as amazing.. Alexandra St. Pierre has made it to my auto buy author list.
Now to the book...
Oh my God.. my heart.
Excuse me while I stare at a blank wall contemplating life.
This book got me. Even though I knew which direction it was heading, the direction it had to go. There were tears... lots of them 😭😭
Finn you beautiful adrenalin junkie, and Riddick.. my heart, you beautiful broken soul. I can't say much more without giving it away.. go in blind and enjoy the ride.
I read it one sitting. Normally, I have to put a book down to process, but nope. I could not put this one down.. I even put off having to pee! And I've had 4 kids, so let me tell you that's not an easy task 😆
This one is released on June 20th, so please grab this beauty.

ARC Review: Chasing Riddick by Alexandra St. Pierre
Wow. Just… wow. I honestly don’t even know how to put into words how much this book wrecked me and healed me all in one. I felt everything while reading this. I laughed out loud, I swooned so hard, and then I sobbed with ugly tears at 1:00 a.m. because there was absolutely no way I could put this book down. I read it in one sitting and was completely captivated from beginning to end.
This is my second book by Alexandra St. Pierre, and she is officially an auto-buy author for me. Both reads have been solid 5-star experiences, but Chasing Riddick? It hit differently. It gutted me and healed me all at once. There’s a plot twist in here I did not see coming, and I’m still thinking about it.
This small-town California surfer romance follows Finn and Riddick, and it checks all my favorite trope boxes:
🏄♂️ Grumpy x Sunshine
🏄♂️ Mentor/Mentee
🏄♂️ Age Gap
🏄♂️ ADHD rep
🏄♂️ Unconventional HEA
The grumpy sunshine vibes were top tier. Finn is the ultimate golden retriever, so full of life, optimism, and relentless charm, doing everything he can to get a smile out of Riddick. And Riddick? Grumpy, stoic, authoritative, and yet the sexual tension was absolutely palpable. And the filth that comes out of his mouth? 10/10, no notes.
You know when you read a book and immediately know it’s going to stay with you for a while? Yeah. This is one of those books. I will definitely be thinking about Chasing Riddick long after I’ve turned the last page.
If you’re looking for a romance that will make you feel truly, deeply, and completely, this is it. Just be prepared. You’re going to laugh, cry, and maybe question your emotional stability in the best way.
Thank you to Alexandra St. Pierre for the eARC in exchange for my honest review.

Finn and Riddick’s story was beautiful and so full of emotions. I absolutely devoured it.
If you do anything please go into this book blind. The experience is 100% worth it.

Finn Summer is chasing his next big thrill: conquering the twenty foot waves of the legendary, but deadly, beach called Leviathans. With nothing but a whispered rumor, surfer bro Finn and his best friend Turtle make their way to the small town. Locals repeatedly warn Finn by sharing the tragic ending of the beloved surfer Jake Whitting, one of the original discoverers of the beach who died surfing the behemoth. On his quest to achieve the impossible, Finn knows he cannot do it alone so he enlists Riddick to train him. As training goes on the lines between mentor and mentee become blurred, and Finn finds a home in the small town. Will he risk it all to just chase the thrill?
If you are looking for your next summer romance, Chasing Riddick is the perfect book to read at the beach while soaking up the sun. The vibes and atmosphere of Stars Cove, California made me want to ride cross-country and find a small beach town to find a home in. Alexandra made me feel like I too was a surfer bro with the helpful glossary and definitions in the start of the book. While I will not be hanging ten any time soon, you will see me refer to my boogie board as a foamie now. This book had me laughing out loud, kicking my feet, and absolutely LOVING all the "Finding Nemo" references.
Finn Summer is a happy-go-lucky, energizer bunny surfer bro who is doing anything to find happiness. His characteristics are a stark comparison to his tragic backstory of being abandoned by his father and dealing with the tragic loss of his mother. Due to his mother passing after getting hit by a drunk driver, he cuts both alcohol and drugs out of his lifestyle. It was refreshing to see representation of a sober MC. After meeting Riddick, his surfing trainer, he realizes that the blonde, tanned babes on the beach might not be for him. He questions whether he could be into men, or whether he only feels this way for his surf instructor. Finn realizes the only way he will know for sure is to cross the line with Riddick. In my opinion, this romance between Finn and Riddick is heavily lust driven and a bit surface level as I wanted to see more deep emotional connection between them. I felt more connected to Finn than I did to Riddick, I wish we had seen a bit more of what made Riddick tick. Their unconventional happy ending was one I predicted, but still hurt my soul reading.
I enjoyed how once I picked this book up, it was tough to put down. I breezed through this story, itching to figure out what would happen next. I came up with a bunch of theories on what would happen at the end of the book (I'm proud I figured out one that did happen) but this story had a massive plot twist that I did not see coming. Looking back, there were so many clues that I missed and I can't believe I couldn't figure it out earlier.
Overall, this is such a fun male male summer romance that I highly recommend reading by the beach to get fully immersed into the setting! This book is perfect for those that enjoy:
🤙 MM contemporary romance
🤙 mentor x mentee surfers
🤙 small beach town setting
🤙 age gap
🤙 grumpy x sunshine
🤙 unconventional happy ever after

Amazing MM surfer romance with tropes like age gap, grumpy x sunshine and mentor x mentee.
I loved this book! The characters, the storyline, the writing, everything was amazing.
Finn was such a great, funny character. His internal monologue had me laughing multiple times. Loved the grumpy x sunshine dynamic between him and Riddick. Also, the chemistry between them was amazing and I loved the banter and slow burn. The spice between them was definitely spicing, and the praises 🫠🔥
The plot twist towards the end took me completely by surprise. It was something I truly didn’t see coming, but I loved it! And the ending 😭 Heartbreaking but beautiful.
The character art sprinkled throughout the book was beautiful.
“Everything I do to you will be a lesson, Finn.”
“I was in trouble. And this wasn’t the kind of trouble my dimples could get me out of.”
“If you insist on surfing waves that will kill you, then yes, Finn. Everything does need to be serious. This is life or death. How do you not get that?”
“This ass is mine, shark bait, and I take care of things that are precious to me.”
“Why couldn’t you hyperfocus on knitting or something less deadly…”
I received an ARC of this book and I am voluntarily leaving a review. Receiving ARC didn’t affect my opinion of the book.

Hey this book absolutely destroyed me. Something I love doing with Alexandra's books is to go in almost completely blind. Given that I was given the privilege to read this as an ARC, blind was basically my only option here. All I knew for this was that it was an MM open door, surfer, age gap romance. And it is. Still, nothing could have prepared me for the absolute ROLLERCOASTER of a ride this was. Worth it. 5/5 once again.
For shits and giggles, here is the "hot" and "ow" counts for my annotations throughout the ENTIRETY of this book.

One of the things I love the most about Alexandra's writing is she knows how to pull every emotion out of her readers. This was nothing short of amazing. Not that I was expecting anything less. I would literally read her grocery list at this point.
The way she intertwines the characters and creates so much depth in their interactions and backgrounds is just incredible. They honestly feel like people you've known your whole life. Finn was such a beautiful soul, and I will be thinking about him for a long time to come.
Another thing I love about Alexandra's writing is that she's going to leave you guessing, and she's going to leave you shocked with your jaw on the floor. I was not truly prepared for the twists this story took. At the end of it all, I was left a blubbering mess because I just loved all of these characters so much, but Finn and Riddick will definitely hold a special place in my heart.
