Alexandra St Pierre never ceases to amaze.
I went into this book totally blind and absolutely fell in love. Finn and Riddick’s story is so heart-wrenchingly beautiful. This book will live rent-free in my head for a long, long time.
Turtle is also an amazing character. We all need a Turtle in our lives.
Highly, highly recommend.

I received an ARC of this book and did not get time to start it until last night 6/29 - stayed up until 1 am cause COULD NOT PUT IT DOWN. only reason I did was I had to be up at 5 for work. Woke up earlier than 5 and read even more. Finished it on my lunch break at work and I have tears streaming down my face!!!! It takes a lot for a story to make me cry!!!!
The writing is beautiful, amazing. I laughed so much at Finn’s lovable, hilarious self and giggled how he annoyed grumpy Riddick. Alex wrote the way they complimented each other and fulfilled what each other needed so incredibly well!!!!
Their love story is so amazing!!!! So meant for each other.

This story turned out to be a beautiful tragedy. Finn is a surfer his goal is to ride the Leviathan, a big, but dangerous wave. He moves to LA and buys a shack so he can practice riding this wave. He meets Riddick a grumpy surfer who warns him to not ride it. After convincing Riddick agrees to help Finn surf the Leviathan.
The chemistry between Finn and Riddick is intense yet sensual. The storyline and character building is really well done. I was glued to this book and couldn’t stop reading. The plot twists just kept coming and I didn’t see them at all. The ending was absolutely brutal, but beautiful. I couldn’t stop crying at how wrong it felt even though everything fell into place. Definitely worth reading.

Grumpy/sunshine, mentor/mentee, bi awakening - recipe for a great story! Absolutely loved the insight into the surfing world - enough to make it enjoyable but not too much that it made it inaccessible. Heavy themes of grief and abandonment were handled beautifully and Finn was such a loveable gem; the word spunky was used to describe him and that fit him perfectly! Would’ve totally joined the Finnatics club if I lived in Stars Cove. I had seen an early promo that was kind of a spoiler (seems to have been removed), so parts of the story weren’t a shock, however the end still got me right in the feels despite thinking I was prepared. An emotional but ultimately feel-good read.

⭐️ ⭐️⭐️⭐️
After losing his mom, Finn and his best friend Turtle left North Carolina on an adventure heading to a small coastal town in California called ‘Stars Cove’ to surf 🏄 the notorious Leviathans. Finn buys a little shack outside of Star Cove that comes with its own private beach, but one day, some random guy decides to surf on Finn’s property without permission. And baby! Finn wasn’t having any of that and went to confront him. But he was totally caught off guard when the guy turned around, revealing ocean blue eyes that pierced right through him.
Riddick has lived and Surfed in Star Cove for many years, and when this new guy came charging down the beach that belonged to his late friend but is now owned by Finn, he wasn’t happy about it. But while Finn was trying to assert his dominance over the beach territory, he mentioned that he would be surfing the Leviathans. This didn’t sit well with Riddick since the Leviathans has the most dangerous waves, which have already claimed the life of someone dear to him—Jake. So, what does Riddick do next? He decides to train Finn to ensure he doesn’t end up like the last person who surfed those unforgiving waters.
This story was very heartwarming and surprisingly a bit mysterious. The chemistry between Finn and Riddick was electric from the get-go, and I started to feel a sense of dread with Riddick as he wasn’t being completely honest with Finn about something. And Finn! My sweet baby Finn has lost everyone he’s loved in his life except for his bestie Turtle, and he feels like everyone will eventually leave him behind and alone. 💔
This book does have a happy ending, but it’s not your typical one. What do I mean by that? Well, you’ll just have to read it for yourself 😌
Thanks you so much for sending me this ARC for an honest review!

What can I say other than - EMOTIONAL DAMAGE!
From the first few chapters of this book, I knew that I would love this book. Finn is such a captivating character and his personality draws me to him. The way Alexandra described him is absolutely perfection - "ADHD Sea Puppy!" His views on life and striving towards the goals that you set for yourself are amazing. I was so worried for him because of his lack of fear but it made his determination even more believable.
Turtle is the absolute best best friend for Finn. His bubbly and cool personality was breathtaking and so free. You can absolutely feel the love that is between Turtle and Finn. And Turtle is always there to protect him - especially emotionally.
Riddick.... OMG! Such a grumpy pants. His strict rules for training Finn made me laugh, especially with how vague they were and how flustered they made Finn.
Favourite scene was definitely the yoga day! That was just so full of tension and had a smile on my face the entire time.
For how much this book made me feel, it was an emotional roller coaster from start to finish. I cried my eyes out at midnight reading the book and had to calm myself down enough by watching cute videos of couples on Tiktok!
Overall this book was one of the best books that I've EVER read. It's definitely in my top 3. This is a book that I would recommend to anyone that loves MM romance books.
