This is one of the better Stephanie Plum books of recent years. There is far less focus on her romantic entanglements (although all three of her hot men make an appearance) and far more focus on the case. This book is funny in a way that is true to Stephanie Plum books but it is not outlandish. I will even go so far as to say that we see some character development in some of the side characters. As per usual for this series, it is a fun, funny, fluffy read that is thoroughly enjoyable.
I was a late fan to the series, hearing about them for years before finally trying the first three. I read them quickly, probably around the time the movie came out or a little before? Ever since I love them for reliable escape reading. They make me laugh and hold my attention with the quick, breezy, entertaining antics of Stephanie and her family and friends. I have not read every book in this series, but I did get a good foundation in the beginning and have read the last couple, including the newest, Game On, which is now available.
Diesel, another bounty hunter, breaks into Stephanie’s apartment in the middle of the night. She hasn’t seen him in a couple years, and here he is, handsome and rough around the edges. Stephanie and Diesel are seeking the same fugitive, Oswald Wednesday, a computer hacker. Are Stephanie and Diesel working in tandem or against each other?
There are the usual suspects we’ve come to expect from these dear books- Ranger, Morelli, Grandma Mazur (love), and Lula. This series is pure fun, and I’m grateful to have these books to turn to when I need the reset button!
I received a gifted copy.

It is another quirky adventure for Stephanie Plum, as she takes on the hunt for a dangerous hacker. His work brings the return of Diesel, which, unfortunately, cuts the amount of Ranger scenes. I hope there's more of Ranger in the next book! As usual, there are plenty of fun touches, particularly with Lula and Grandma Mazur - and even Stephanie's mom gets into it with a new hobby - to balance the moments of danger.

This book isn't really any different from any of the previous 28 books, except we have Diesel added to the mix, for some odd reason. I thought he was in the Wicked series??? Maybe Evanovich just needed an idea, I don't know. It was a typical Plum book, cars got torched, lots of calorie heavy food was eaten and sexy comments were made. Not enough Grandma for me, I guess. And Mrs P made a 'thing'.
I'll listen to the next one, when it's my turn from the library, but this series is very blended together in my mind.
And really - why add Diesel and Wulf out of no where? Am I missing something? I thought they were just in the Wicked series and the between the numbers? I read the last book - what am I missing?

Fabulous as always!! Can't beat a Stephanie Plum.novel. They are so hilarious and you just can't put it down. Being from this area of NJ is a bonus too!
