Predictable and comfy, like a blanket on a cold day. Diesel is back and Mom with her knitting was my favorite running joke in this one.

It’s been some time since I’ve read a novel in this series. It did not disappoint. Like a peanut butter and marshmallow fluff sandwich, it had all the aspects I remembered. Nice break.

For the audio book, the author is very good.

Another enjoyable, if predictable, installment in the Stephanie Plum series. Nothing much seems to change plot wise with this series and yet I can't keep from reading each new book! This one features a cameo from Diesel (as opposed to Ranger or Morelli as the main love interest). I also really enjoyed that Stephanie's mom finds some semblance of sanity and escapism through her new knitting hobby. Overall lots of the usual hijinks, including car disasters, funeral home viewings and dead bodies. If you're looking for a comforting, easy read, look no further this fall.

*sighs* First if all, I should say from the top that I’m trauma-bonded to this book series, and I have to stick with it until the end, which may very well never happen in my lifetime.

I like Diesel v much, but it’s time to retire his character. RIP to Lizzie & Diesel and that series. In this book, he basically took over Ranger’s normal role (protection, cars, and even a fairy godmother/housekeeper) without any romance or real personal stakes.

Also, it feels like J.E.’s trying harder to justify Morelli as the eventual love interest, while Ranger is *right* there as the objectively more compatible one. It felt so forced.

Anyway, why am I still harping on this series? I always know exactly what I’m getting into while reading this, so none of this is at all shocking. I suppose I needed to vent this out a bit.

I had decided that after the travesty that was the deviation in naming and just the mess 27 was, if 28 was more of the same this was going to be my last Stephanie Plum novel.

Thankfully, it will not be. This one was much better, but I will never not be salty about the name change.

This one didn't seem as strong as some others, but still follows the familiar formula.

Good to catch up with Stephanie and the gang, plus Diesel and Wolf! I guess since Diesel was in town, Ranger had to take a back seat, poor thing. Fun as usual, same old shticks, but you love them like a cousin you only see at the yearly reunion.
