I should have given up on this book. It was not for me. I never understood the connection between Declan and Evie, he just told her what to do and then suddenly she was in love???

2/5🌶️ The writing of this book is kinda bad but the plot had me hooked so I couldn’t stop reading. I didn’t understand how this was a forced marriage until her dad died (plot twist) and put a bunch of shit in the will. With the tension between Declan and Everly being there before the marriage, it made for an interesting dynamic. I also get why Everly was so scared to release her control over to Declan, with the whole ex abuse situation, but I feel like if there was clear communication it would have been way better. But in the end it was a happy ending and now they have a little boy together and Everly gets the big family that she always wanted.

I loved the characters and story line, but the execution toward the end was wonky.
I love that Declan was a man who can admit when he is wrong, read the room, make decisions swiftly and will go after what he wants with precision. This made for a very attractive male lead. Evie, although scarred, was tough as nails and created a life she could be proud of. Together, they transformed to become the best versions of themselves.
