CBC book 7- a good book that reminds us to be present and focus on the moment. It’s a book for healing and letting go of pain and fear.
Yet, I do not see a multidisciplinary use for this book and is low on my CBC vetting list.

The first 70%, where the focus is specifically on how to deal with fear, really resonated with me. I think, most people are likely to be able to take something from that and benefit from the text. The last part is kind of a generic buddhist teaching introduction, which I found a little too abbreviated to really make sense of.
Especially the section about "true love" is much more about moral statements, compared to a lot of the rest of the book, where the reasoning is clear to follow even from a non-religious viewpoint. For some reason, the later part of the book also constantly talks about how to practice with ones partner, which is a bit disorienting, and might not be very helpful.

I really liked it, but I didn't love it. It didn't bring any new messages to me, but it was a good tool to remind me of important things.

I love Thich Nhat Hanhs writing style, I get so much out of it every time I read one of his books. He does a beautiful job of sharing meditation and mindfulness practices in a way that makes them very simple and accessible, and the same goes for his general teachings about Buddhism. He makes complex topics very easy to understand, this book in particular was often repetitive but in a way that really helped get to the root of what he was saying. I really recommend his books to anyone wanting to start practicing mindfulness/ meditation (Peace Is Every Step was a game changing read for me). Tbh I don’t think the book I just read is technically the same book as the one it’s showing on goodreads which is a bummer cause the one I have has a really pretty cover lol but that doesn’t matter at all. Do NOT let me loose in a Tibetan book store in Nepal with really good prices!! How am I gonna get all these books home…

Part of this book is super helpful, potentially life-changing perspectives and advice. The other part is repetition of things he's said in other books. Definitely worth a read in any case.

I enjoyed this book, but immediately after reading this one, I started his book on Reconciliation and it is the same book. Whole chapters are just copied into this book, so if you read that one, it is the same.
