What a Finale!
This book was truly different than the first two (the narrator shift was very present and shifter the feel of the story in parts)The magic, other worldly and transcendent time truly engulf the reader. The heaviness of war, youth making life altering decisions and weight of loss of childhood are still ever present and truly gripping on EVERY page.
The world building, majestic descriptions and emotion evoking details are what the reader has come to expect and are consistent throughout the story and series. The antagonist is clear and the many plots tell of multiple stories and timelines that emerge into a story with many lessons that still stand present today.
This a book and series I definitely recommend.

The first book was my favorite and the last book was interesting but I would have liked a better ending as it seemed a bit all ovee over the place and did not do the four main characters justice.
With that said it is still worth finishing the trilogy.

Hmmm… listen… I really wanted to finish the trilogy. I found out that the finale had been published in 2024 and since I never read the sequel after finishing the Blood and Bone book, I thought might as well read it all this year. Virtue and Vengeance was still engaging if a little repetitive, but the ending just threw me for a loop. Literally what the freak. How are you so close to a conclusive ending only to throw in some BS cliff hanger that makes no sense to the story at all whatsoever. This is a story about Orïsha aka one country. Why all of a sudden introduce an entire new country, language, and magic system in the last book of a series?! The ending of Vengeance and Virtue just pissed me off so much I searched up the ending on the internet. Needless to say it seems most fans of this series are equally as unsatisfied as I am. I will not be wasting my time reading this. I do genuinely like the concept of the world and will be tuning in for the movie (or movies?) eventually, but I’m just gonna pretend this last book doesn’t exist lol.

I think if this book was its own story I would have been able to enjoy it more. Its almost like it had no connection to the story it was meant to conclude outside of some of the same characters being present.
Two new countries and cultures were introduced with their own gods and mythologies and we're thrown into this new conflict with no real background as to why. This story concluded and we're no closer to knowing how Orisha was rebuilt after despite generations of inner conflict. Characters that we know should still be out there just disappeared from the story, relationships and feelings were simply ignored. It almost felt like the story was written to just give us something cool to look at with a future show rather than giving us a good story. For the first time, I'm hoping the tv adaptation doesn't follow the book. Maybe that way we can get something better.
