I didn’t like book two but thought I’d give this a chance. I just can’t deal with the writing style and all the Old Icelandic was wrong. Couldn’t get past it.
The book had a slightly rough start for me, as the sentence formatting in the beginning felt a bit choppy. However, as I progressed toward the middle and the end, the writing significantly improved, making it a much smoother and more enjoyable read.
This trilogy as a whole is excellent, and I highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys reading about intense warfare and ancestral realms. The narrative is packed with action, war, and sacrifice, mirroring what our ancestors might have endured in their own battles for survival and freedom.
The ending is bittersweet. Many characters meet their death, then return to life, only to face death again, tension to the story. If you’re up for a rollercoaster of emotions and a story with deep historical echoes, this trilogy is a must-read!
Favorite Quotes:
1. “I teach you to be warriors in the garden, so that you may never be gardeners in a war.”
2. “Do not pray to be saved; pray to be reborn.”

I think this is the first book I’ve read where a MAJOR character just disappears without an explanation or mention - like most other people in the reviews I’m asking where is roën?! It’s crazy that this is the last book in the trilogy and so much is left unanswered and how the main conflict through both book 1 and 2 just seems to disappear within 5 pages for a completely new, undeveloped plot forced into the shortest and final book of the series?!
Despite my complaints, the writing is good, the descriptions of places and people don’t fail to live up to the first two books but I can’t help but be disappointed in the plot, all major conflicts between characters from the first two books just vanish and are replaced for a whole new plot
