I really enjoyed reading this book and learnt a lot from it. I loved that the author explained psychological theory and gave examples.

I found it brilliant how Lori Gottlieb structures her book to feel like the therapy sessions she is writing about. I found myself thinking "No! Stay with John until he opens up!" Or "Don't leave us hanging with Rita and Myron!" when she would change chapters and continue telling another part of her story. A brilliant structure for this kind of storytelling, and an engaging authorial voice. I cried at Julie's final chapter, and I found myself wishing I could see Rita's artwork or John's show to know these "characters" better.
