„Tačiau ko mes bijome? Juk nebus taip, kad pažvelgę į tuos tamsius kampus ir įžiebę šviesą pamatysime daugybę lakstančių tarakonų. Jonvabaliai taip pat mėgsta tamsą. Tokiose vietose slypi grožis, bet norint jį išvysti būtina žiūrėti.“

laughed. cried. googled how to become a therapist and then realized maybe i just wanna become a writer.

I loved this. The kind of book I highlighted the sh*t out of during reading. It was fascinating to learn more about the therapy process and what it's like to work as a therapist. Meta information. I love human stories (hello, this is why I read). I also learned a few things about myself during reading, which I'm grateful for.

I cannot believe no therapists has written like this until now. As a student of psychology, I enjoyed reading about how theories are applied and the brief homage to past therapists who shaped the field (Freud, Jung, Frankl, Rogers, etc.). The case examples were heartwarming, and chosen nicely to show how therapy can help a wide range of people. Any aspiring therapists/counsellor should read this. Bottom line, I need to get a hardcopy of my own in my psychology collection.

DID NOT FINISH: 44%

Soooo repetitive. Maybe I’ll revisit when I have more patience.

I've been in therapy for a year and I tell everyone about it. I think that absolutely every single person would benefit from therapy - and this book helps explain why. Describing the nuances of what it means to be human, the author's depictions of therapy from both sides show us how many layers can be within ourselves and the people we know. She's raw, compassionate, understanding, and has her own troubles. Therapy isn't scary or only for "crazy" people - it's a place to be wholey and fully yourself and gain perspective on who you are and who you want to be. Her delicate explanations of what goes on inside the room are magnificent.

An interesting and informative memoir. A bit too long though.
