I will start of by saying that I made a grave mistake and didn't realize this was the third book of a series. Yes, I saw the #3 but I didn't think anything of it. That being said, there is typically a lot of character development over time. Brent was...not likable in any way. For being book #3 of a series, he was incredibly shallow and arrogant. Sure, you can look past that and say he had a traumatic childhood and it's all a facade. But he was miserable to read about. Also, the fact he only really noticed Kennedy with the whole "completely changes how they look" thing. No. They were insufferable to read about. Of course I finished the whole thing, but this book took me a long time to read since it was not great. Maybe reading the other two books would have helped. But I could not stand Brent's character.

I was so excited to read Appealed by Emma Chase! After seeing Brent previously in this series I just loved him and couldn't wait to get to know him better! Appealed is a standalone, though it is the third book in the Legal Briefs series. Each of the stories are interconnected and a few things might be spoiled, but they are very easily read as standalones. I have to say that Appealed is my favorite of the series though! Loved it and couldn't put it down.
Brent Mason and Kennedy Randolph have a history. At one point they were best friends, until everything changed. Now they haven't seen each other in 14 years, and they are no longer even close to friends. Brent doesn't like to lose in court and out, and he has set his sights on Kennedy. But Kennedy doesn't lose either and has no intention or allowing him anywhere close to her. Out for revenge, things quickly go from bad to worse when he finds out that Kennedy is the prosecutor on one of his cases. But the passion between them is undeniable, and soon they both find themselves with feelings that never went away.
I really loved Brent! He was so much fun and I loved his attitude. He had lost his leg as a child, and yet it never slowed him down. He was determined to live life to the fullest and didn't let it get in his way. He was sexy and confident, and one of those guys with so much charm you can't help but fall for him. Even when he did things that would drive me nuts, I couldn't help but love him. Kennedy was smart and driven and had also been through a lot. She had been bullied when she was younger and had some bad things happen that had her feeling insecure at times and unable to trust anyone. I really felt for her, even if there were times that she came off as bitchy. It was clear that she was just trying to protect herself, and I really liked her with Brent. Once she started to let him in a little and see where things could go, it was very easy to like her and I could see how perfect they were for one another. The heat between these two was very strong, and I loved their chemistry.
Overall, this book was so good and I had such a good time reading it! I loved the witty banter between Brent and Kennedy, and seeing them go toe-to-toe in the courtroom was the best sort of foreplay. They had such a spark between them that I just knew things would be explosive once they finally gave in and went for it. Appealed had everything I look for in a great story. It is very rare to find such a well balanced story, but Emma Chase has done it here! Appealed is funny and sexy, charming and emotional, and I think that no matter what genre you read is one that readers will enjoy. Emma Chase is a great writer and you can't go wrong with anything she has written. I can't wait to read more from her in the future and see what she comes up with next.

Appealed is the third book in the Legal Briefs series, and I’ve really been looking forward to Brent’s story. I fully expected to love it, especially after falling madly in love with the previous book, [b:Sustained|22926485|Sustained (The Legal Briefs, #2)|Emma Chase|https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1435809134s/22926485.jpg|42495691]. Appealed isn’t the slam-dunk I hoped it would be, but it’s still highly enjoyable. It’s a friends to enemies to lovers story that cleverly combines two popular tropes.
Brent is a successful defense attorney who happily enjoys his bachelor lifestyle. Throughout the years he’s often thought of Kennedy though. She’s the shy, unpopular, yet sweet girl next door who broke his heart when they were teenagers and then inexplicably disappeared from his life. When a prosecutor is assigned to the case Brent’s working on, he’s shocked to discover it’s Kennedy—now gorgeous and confident. He’s more attracted to her than ever, but for some reason Kennedy is blatantly hostile toward him. Each of them is convinced they are the wronged party. Their animosity and sexual tension spill over into the courtroom until eventually they’re forced to confront what happened fourteen years ago.
Kennedy’s resentment makes for some wonderful banter between the two.
“What’d you do to your face?” she asks, folding her arms.
I touch my chin. “I grew a beard.”
“Well ungrow it. It looks like a vagina from a 1970s porn film.”
I loved how their past is revealed in pieces. When we finally get to see things from Kennedy’s perspective, Brent realizes he has to do some serious groveling to get back into Kennedy’s good graces—and her bed. He recognizes that she’s the one who got away.
“What if the reason I’ve never let myself fall in love with a woman is because I didn’t have anything to give? Because I’d already given my heart to her when we were seventeen years old? And all these years I’ve just been waiting for her to come back to me with it.”
Brent’s humor and persistence make him extremely likable. Animosity can generate heat between couples, but I just wasn’t feeling the chemistry between him and Kennedy. While she is justified in her feelings of hurt and betrayal, Kennedy’s lack of trust makes her standoffish through much of the book. I think it contributed to my feeling somewhat disconnected from her. Brent may not have been deterred, but I felt frustrated for him.
In the end, Emma Chase’s witty writing, adorable hero, and a fun storyline make this well worth the read.

Appealed is fantastic. I loved Sustained so much that I, unfairly, held Appealed to higher standard. It had no problem exceeding my expectation. It’s funny, smart and of course hot. Brent and Kennedy’s chemistry is off the charts. I LOVED Brent Mason in Overruled and Sustained. Appealed just multiplied my love by a hundred. Nobody writes a male POV better than Emma Chase.
Oh and that extended epilogue…gah… so dang sweet.
Overruled, Sustained, and Appealed, I loved this series so much. I highly recommend reading all these wonderful books.

I've heard such great things about Emma Chase that I decided to put her on my ATR (Authors To Read) list and oh my gosh, I can't believe it took me this long to read one of her books because Appealed was so amazing! It was exactly the kind of book that I love reading and Ms. Chase jut totally hit it out the park with this one. I absolutely cannot wait to read the first two books in her The Legal Briefs series or any of her other books for that matter!
Man, oh man, Kennedy is a ballbuster! She's smart, strong, tough, and fierce. She gives just as good as she gets and she challenges and keeps Brent on his toes. Kennedy is stubborn, driven, and determined but she's also fun and she thinks fast on her feet. You will never be bored with Kennedy around - she's awesome and I really liked her!
I'm usually not very picky when it comes to my heroes - whether they are dark and brooding, silent and serious, or fun and playful - I like them all. But if I had to pick, I would probably say that the funny, playful hero is my favorite. There is just something about a guy who makes me laugh, it's like instant access to my heart and that's the kind of hero that Brent is. He's so funny and always making jokes and being in his head is just a riot. But if he hadn't made me fall for him with his humor - he would have anyway because he's an amazing guy! Brent is like a superhero and he will sweep you off your feet - literally. I just wholeheartedly LOVED him and I know he won't be a hero I easily forget!
Appealed is a fast, fun, hilarious, and sexy read. It's not the type of read full of angst, but there will still be times where it makes your heart ache and your eyes and nose burn with tears. It was beautiful, wonderful, and I just can't tell you much I loved and enjoyed reading this book, but I can tell you that it is one book that I definitely want to read again!
Appealed is a standalone, it's only told in Brent's POV, and Brent and Kennedy do live happily-ever-after!

Tri hviezdy.
Lebo najprv sklamanie pri The Score a teraz toto.
Miluje ju odjakziva a ma hard-on, už len ked ona pretočí očami.
Cheesy a klišé.

Well that was disappointing. It wasn't bad but it wasn't great either. It was just an okay read.
