A fun and funny story about a practical joker who creates a new word and the ensuing contest between the kids who insist on using it and the school administrators who prohibit it. Great fast-paced read, perfect for any reluctant reader or a kid just looking for an enjoyable tale.

I read this with me niece and she loved it. We had a little book club and would read 5 chapters a week and then discuss. It brought up some interesting questions for a six year old mind. If she wants to read another Andrew Clements book with me in the future, I would not be opposed.
We decided that Nick was a trouble maker...but the good kind. And that Mrs. Granger wasn't the villain we assumed she was :) Loved seeing her enjoy a book and be able to discuss it a later date!

hahahaha this is so original, quite a classic. I can’t believe I didn’t read it years ago back when it was popular

Fun way to introduce linguistics to children. Probably best for 4th grade and up.
I remember enjoying this book when I had to read it in elementary/middle school many years ago, I’m so happy to say I enjoyed Frindle just as much as an adult!
Although the main character might be considered a bit troublesome, I loved that he was still respectful. Loved the way this book ended.

I listened to this book on a long car ride today with my daughter. We had neither of us read it and always heard rave reviews. It lived up to them.
I gave this five stars, because it hit all the marks for me. I will remember these characters names, the author made me feel like I knew them instantly. I have a special soft spot for books with great teachers. I wanted to be one of Mrs. Granger's students and also a teacher myself. It made me want to ask for a dictionary for Christmas. The last sentence made me teary eyed. I would also recommend to others and I liked it so much I wrote a review which my lazy bones never do. So, enjoy a book that makes you remember teachers do not get paid enough and dust off that dictionary you have.
