what is this... the fifth time i've read this book since like third grade? and still, i loved it.
Have you ever wondered who gets to decide what words are in the dictionary? I mean, who decides that a word means a certain thing. These are things that Nick wonders about - and then he comes up with an idea - he could make a word up and see if it catches on.

Ever since I read this I've wanted to create my own word, unfortunately though it hasn't happened
My in2books pen pal recommended this. It is a little superficial, but it has the right mix of lesson and mischief. A fine read for a third, fourth or fifth grader. I hope I don't remind my pen pal of Mrs. Granger. She is a bit of a heroine at the end, so I guess it's okay if I do look and act like the queen of the dictionary.
i think everyone should have to reread this as an adult. so sweet so funny made me tear up in front of my students
This book is funny and charming and surprisingly moving. I remember loving it when I was in middle school and I still think it is such an inspiring read. It’s a lot of fun to read aloud too.
My boys LOVED this. Lincoln is determined to create a new word of his own. :)We'll definitely read this again.
Nick annoyed me at first, but as the story went on he grew on me. By the end, the letters exchanged, the tender-hearted affection and the true feelings of Mrs. Granger... ah! I just loved it. Definitely a 4.5-star book for grade school kids!
I love this book because I love the characters and the brilliant ideas brought up in the story. It was inspiring when I first read it and now I can only admire the author for such a brilliant book.
