Frindle

Great middle grade read and a great way to inspire curiosity and creativity in the classroom. Read this with my daughter and we just loved it!

I remember reading this book in the third grade, so I picked it up from a garage sale last summer. It was a fun, short trip down memory lane.

Frindle is the story of a boy who is smart and...bored. That can be a dangerous combination in any classroom if the teacher can't handle modifying instruction to suit the needs of that kind of student. This particular student has decided to irritate his teacher and starts calling a pen a "frindle". What he didn't count on was the name change taking the world by storm.

I remember reading this in 4th grade. 'Frindle' was a key element in my developing love for reading.
