Such a fun, fun book! Great for introducing kids to chapter books and absolutely delightful!
Fantastic children's book. My third grader devoured it in a night and loved it as much as I did. Creative story about a clever boy who created a word to spite his strong-willed English teacher and watches as the word takes a life of its own.
12 year old me enjoyed this story. 20 year old me is crying her eyes out because of this book. Like seriously, this was so good.
This was a very silly short story. It’s a funny tale of how the main character, Nick Allens, invents a new word: frindle.
I learned two new words in this book (aside from frindle, which isn’t *really* a real word): etymological and lexicographic.
Etymology (see etymological): the study of words and how they have evolved.
Lexicography (see lexicographic): the editing or making of a dictionary. (Miriam Webster)
Interesting words aside, I did like this book. It was a goofy what-if story that was highly enjoyable. It’s also quite short, only about 100 pages (with relatively large text), so good if you want something fast.

Meh. I do love Mrs. Granger's letter at the end, though. Choosing to play the villain--brilliant.

This was a cleverly and clearly written children's novel that didn't try to over simplify a moral out of it's story, but actually left some room for arguement within the context of the story itself which path of action was not only correct, but questions how ones goes about thier course of action.
