Without a doubt now one of my all time favorite series and this book gave the perfect ending. Lot's of battles, blood letting, vengeance and oh no, WTF just happened? moments. My journey to the banished lands started with A Time of Dread, I know I need to read The Faithful and the Fallen, but these 3 books in the Of Blood and Bone series were the best books I've read in years. Thank you sir! Thank you for taking me on an amazing ride.

Truth and Courage!!
fast-paced

Great conclusion to the trilogy and final installment in the Banished Lands. The majority of this was just battle after battle and nobody writes battle like Gwynne, he's just a master at depicting these grand scenes. This trilogy as a whole I would give a low 5* rating, it's really good but the prequel quadrilogy is still better in my opinion. Highly recommend the series to anyone who loves epic fantasy

“We are just people, all of us the same. Flawed, fragile, stubborn, angry, happy. And life treats no one differently. We are born, and we live, and then we die. It’s what we do while we are here that counts. And if we can be called friend, then we are lucky indeed.”

Truth and Courage. The battle cry of the Order of The Bright Star and defenders of The Land of The Faithful. Those two words sum up the heart of A Time of Courage, the third novel in the Of Blood and Bone Trilogy and the seventh overall in the Tale of the Banished Lands.

Faced with overwhelming odds against an enemy that seems devastatingly unstoppable, Drem, Riv, Bleda, Cullen and their allies must find a way to win or their entire world crumbles into brutal annihilation.

Filled with intense gruesome battles, heartbreaking loss, and the power of love, friendship, loyalty, and bravery, I loved this book!! What an absolute fantastic end (?) to a series of novels (all seven) that may very well become my all-time favorite fantasy series ever. I don’t use that phrase lightly. This whole series is a masterpiece.

This series (and the one before it) are absolute must reads for fantasy fans. My time reading about The Land of the Faithful may have finished for now, but I plan to revisit time and time again.

JOHN (if I knew your middle name I would say it too) GWYNNE!!!!

I have one question for you:
WHY DO YOU INSIST ON MAKING ME CRY?!

Even though I have read Gwynne's The Faithful and The Fallen series and knew I had to steel my heart for what was to come in this last book, I could not stop the tears from coming.

Gwynne is truly one of my favorite authors. One who, with these seven books in The Banished Lands, has developed such an amazing world filled with amazing characters. A Time of Courage was perfectly executed, though I would have been happier with more good people living and more evil people dying, but unfortunately, that is war.

This book is filled with outstanding fight scenes, scenes of magic and times of love, loyalty and friendship. The fight scenes keep you on the edge of your seat waiting to see who will come out as the victor. You can't help but cheer on the good guys when they finally pull through or let out a roar of your own when they are unable to overcome their enemy.

Gwynne has created such an incredible story that I am saddened to see end. I have not been let down by this series or world (aside from the deaths of some of my favorite characters. Some day I may be willing to forgive you, John Gwynne.)

I highly recommend this series and The Faithful and The Fallen series to all fantasy fans. Especially those who love awesome sword fights and magic, love creative characters who you can watch grow and become better, or worse, and for anyone who loves to be taken on an adventure.

Can't wait to see what you do next, Gwynne. You have given me seven books that I will cherish for the rest of my life. I will continue to share them with all who will listen to me.
