Predictable, unnecessarily drawn out, and disappointing.
2.5 stars. Slow, drawn out read. Not what I expected.
I had to fight to get through this book. The main character was whiny and the plot felt repetitive. Also, how does a heart surgeon who has been working for 10+ years have a spotless record? The whole concept just felt too unrealistic to me, and the ending was rushed and all over the place.
First time reader of Leslie Wolfe. The surgeon started off slow and a bit too detailed but i am glad I stuck with it. Fabulous twists and turns. I will read more by this author!

Whereas I appreciated the twists and turns this book took, it had some problems.
First of all, it was pretty cliche with the affair.
Second, it was wayyyyyyy to long. I got so bored in the middle 70%
Third, it screams Grey’s Anatomy. Which is pretty low hanging medical entertainment fruit.

I kept seeing this book pop up at the store, on TikTok, on Amazon, etc. I finally caved and listened to the audiobook. I am an avid watcher of Grey’s Anatomy so this is right up my alley.
I really liked the idea of this book, but wasn’t fully satisfied with the way it was presented. Some of the parts in the book genuinely shocked me: Paula having an affair with Derek and the mom being involved with the patients heart not starting back up. Then there were the twists that were predictable: Paula being related to Anne’s adoptive sister, Anne being so full of hate for her cheating husband that she was going to kill him with an undetectable way.
I have a problem believing that Anne has never lost a patient. That is unheard of for real life surgeons. I can understand her having a streak of no loses, but to have *never* lost a patient… I call bullshit.
Although I have a few things that I disliked about this book, I truly enjoyed listening to it. I couldn’t put it down.

Um dos livros da autora de que mais gostei. Recomendo a leitura
I really enjoyed the opening to this book and following the two separate characters that the story is told from. I was fully sucked into the book for about the first 30% but then it started to drag for me. I had a hard time finishing this book. It’s saving grace was the ending that I didn’t see coming. The ending gets 5 stars from me though I’m not sure if that makes it worth reading the entire thing.
