I just finished The surgeon by Leslie Wolfe..
Anne has it all. The career, the husband.. having never lost a patient on the table was the pinnacle of her career… until the day her latest patient's heart just won't start. 23 mins is all she gives it when she finally sees his face and she calls time of death without trying to revive him. She knows him and he got what he deserved….
This book was a slow burn but it was a good slow burn. I thought the plot was very clever and well executed. I have to admit, I didn't see the twists coming. I thought the ending was really quite clever and the writing was lucid and it flowed really well.
What didn't I like… the characters were one dimensional. They had no depth to them at all. This book could have been exceptional had the character development had been there but there was nothing of substance there. I think the author was going for a plot heavy book but it didn't quite work for me.
I still really enjoyed the book though. If you like psychological thrillers, add this one to your tbr!
4 stars. Thank you to @netgalley @bookouture for my review copy.

Solid 3.8, this book isn’t the worst but I felt like I couldn’t connect at some points. The middle was a bit boring, the twist at the end was shocking but wasn’t at the same time. Good book to get me more into thrillers, but imma hit up a romance next lol
I couldn’t do it. I couldn’t connect with the characters and Paula is ridiculous
mysterious
fast-paced
Had potential to be good, slow build and then the twist was meh
I was skeptical of this one just because I don't often find a psychological thriller that hooks me like FM's do.. but this one.. it got me.
There was one part I guessed right but the rest of it.. nope.
Leslie's writing is done very well and keeps you wanting to find out more and before you know it the book is done because you've been sucked into finding out WHO DONE IT??!
If you like FM books, grab this one and give it a shot!

I was a little bored of this book at times but found the end to be shocking. I enjoyed reading about two women in more dominated male roles and overall found the book an easy read.
Okay! I loved this.. although the main character anxiety was giving me anxiety i still enjoyed it because i can relate to it. The twist tho

I’m really trying to branch out and try new readers but this one was tough. The book was 37 chapters and it didn’t get to the point until around 33. The chapters are also longer than I prefer.
It wasn’t all bad (hence the 3 star). The plot was decent and I was pleasantly surprised at some of the intertwined characters and situations.
Overall it was an average read and the author could have gotten to the point much sooner.
