It's such a great story and execution is done perfectly and believable. I can't wait to read next book.

I read this because it was free and conceptually I enjoy time travel romance. This was fine. The time travel made little sense, the characters were fine, the plot held together, barely.

I originally rated this book three stars, but I recently (2020) upgraded that rating to four stars. I rarely reread books, yet I have read this one three times because I can't find other time-travel stories that have the right amount of culture clash and humor for my tastes. The heroine is written with an intriguing balance of vulnerability and bad-ass skills from the future. I think that deserved an extra star.

I like a regency time travel book as much as the next reader and the mystery of the missing girl was really a good story but there was just too much about this book that was confusing for me to give it a higher star rating.
First, the title An Earl Out of Time but really the Earl wasn't out of time but his visitor Cassie who was out of her time period. Then, the story starts with Cassie being some kind of special constable volunteer. It was just too confusing a way to get her to her actual time travel.
Once the story gets going, it is good it just was a little confusing getting there.

I really enjoyed this book, the story was original and well done, the characters all well developed and individual. This is basically a time slip story of a 28 year old woman who buys a miniature of a handsome gentleman painted in the Regency era. She accidentally manages to slip from our time back to his, and has a huge amount of adventures while shocking the refined gentleman and his friends with her 21st Century ways. You do have to take this story with a pinch of salt, things are accepted which i imagine would have been impossible for people of that time to get their heads around. However, it is so well written that it's easy to just go with the flow of the story, there are no jarring elements at all.
I especially liked the way the book ended and i'll definitely be interested in reading more from this series.
