Woot, such a great ending to a really great series. The female characters did not get on my nerves and were not nearly as much as I thought when I started this series. Each are so strong in their own way and bring something to the table.

This series became a little darker and more violent with each book; so if that is not your thing, don't pick them up. If you know me, the darker the better; the bloodier, the better; and last but not least; the more twisted, oh yeah, even better. Levana is the violent, twisted villain we could all love to hate. She made the series even more readable and entertaining. Like, "What more dastardly deed can she do to top the last one??!!" I loved/hated her.

Yes, there are YA tropes.... it's a YA book. Just sayin'.... you don't want those, then don't read YA.

This is well-written, and has fully fleshed out characters and I think, just a great fairytale retelling. I had a lot of fun reading this and am ready to read The Stars Above.

Absolutely amazing! A Fantastic way to end the series!!

I’ve been avoiding this one.

Not because I didn’t want to read it, mind you. I’ve been avoiding it because I didn’t want to finish it. I didn’t want to bid goodbye to one of my favorite series, but if this is how I have to say farewell to Cinder, Scarlet, Cress, and Winter, then think that I can accept that.

I’m not going to say I’m thrilled, though.

Winter is a book about a rebellion and 99% of it is dedicated to that. There are very few quiet moments with the cast, they’re far too busy fighting a war and that's to the book's detriment.

The strength of The Lunar Chronicles has never been the plots, which are rather generic as would be expected of fairy-tale retellings. This is a character series and this book seemed to forget that. We didn't need page after page of plotting and captures and mutilations, all of which did nothing to develop the characters and everything to confuse the plot which was far weaker than that of any of the previous books.

What we needed was more bonding time. We needed a break in the action, but there was never a time where it could be taken and the war takes up so much of the story that eventual end to the conflict combined with the ending wrap up (which was less than 50 pages long) left me feeling underwhelmed and disappointed.
Spoiler I'm sorry, but Cinder defeating Levana because she's ugly is just not a fun ending. It's not clever and it feels like a cop-out. Everyone knows that Levana's disfigured, revealing that shouldn't freak her out. It felt forced. Along the same lines, Cinder's plan to give up the throne does not sit well with me. It makes her into a weak character because she's putting herself ahead of her people without any thought for them. I would have loved to see Winter given the throne or something like that, but just ending the monarchy after decades? It wouldn't work!

If you've already read the rest of the series, then I'm not going to say to skip this book because it's still got a lot of fun stuff going on, but don't go into it expecting an amazing finish.

If you're reading this while trying to decide if you should read the series, then I'd tell you to only give it a chance if you're looking for some fun fairy-tale re-imaginings because the plot is not strong enough to make it worth the time it takes to read all four books.

kaider is everything god bless

Jag tror att jag hade tyckt om den här tegelstenen om jag inte plockat upp den mitt under en lässvacka. Det gick så trögt att läsa att oavsett om jag tyckte den var bra så kan jag inte ge mer än en trea.

Okay So this was amazing. I loved every second of it with exception of the last few pages. I felt SO let down. I had an Iko sized meltdown. I’m not sure what I expected the ending to be like since I tried very hard NOT to think about the ending. It just felt very anticlimactic and also very Final. I know that there is another book with shorts coming out (is out? idk) but I am hoping the author gives us a glimpse of what happens to Luna after everything and then what happens between Kai and Cinder. I would love for there to be another book after this giving some closure about Luna and Cinder’s life. This book left me wanting so much more BUT with that being my only complaint I knew a 4 was in order. When I say this was PACKED with information - There was so much action it was ALMOST (no quite) hard to keep up. It was a breathless few chapters to get into the throne room. I think I got a little light headed reading through the end trying to figure out what was going to happen. My eyes couldn’t skim any faster than they were.

Everything starts coming together perfectly into a perfect little package. I mean every couple was finally complete with a cute bow popped on top of them. Winter endlessly amazed me through this story and I slowly learned to love her ( I sort of had a love hate with her like scarlet did). I couldn’t help but feel a little sorrow for wolf but at the end of the day he got his Alpha girl. It was just perfect and sweet and the ONLY ONE who didn’t get what they deserved (in my opinion) was Cinder. She had this mantle of responsibility thrust onto her and she fought tooth and wire to get to where she was needed most and yet her personal life still sucks. I REALLY hope the author doesn’t just leave me hanging like that! It took me forever for Cinder to grow on me and now that I finally adore her quirks I am left feeling a bit empty.

Overall this series is heart hammering and in some places really sad. There was a good mix of action and reaction. I appreciated how well thought out this plot was because each and every book had a certain magical element to it. These were some pretty bad ass females and god help the world if you mess with them and their pack. Thank you Marissa Meyer for creating such a beautiful world - a world that i was at first very skeptical about and eventually ended up loving.
