Winter by Marissa Meyer
Sci fi fairy tale retelling
Adventure
A great finale! Intense and emotional. I liked the development of Iko, I didn't really like her in the first book, but she really grew and changed. And I really grew to love Scarlet and Wolf throughout the series.
I really liked Winter as a character. Even just introduced for a few pages at the end of Cress, I knew she'd be a favorite. So it was pretty disappointing that she didn't have a feature role. Cinder was about Cinder, Scarlet was about Scarlet, Cress was about Cress, but Winter was about the revolution.
"All she wanted was an admiring smile, one breathless look that would sustain her."
**Spoilers*thoughts while reading
I don't think Wolf would have just left Scarlet, so how can he suggest Thorne leave Cress?
I can't quash the feeling that this story is painting burn victims in a bad light. Like it's something to be horrified by. It was at least acknowledged that her scars are not what makes her evil.
It also bothers me the way Scarlet talks to Winter. Winter has a mental disorder and Scarlet is calling her crazy and talking down to her. Not cool. But I did admire the way whe didn't coddle or underestimate her.
I gasped out loud when Thorne was under Levana's control. You know the moment.
The end was just kind of a cop out, I think. Like we've all been waiting for how long for this final moment and then it just fades to black and we don't even get to see what happens.
Even worse than that! We get the whole 3 weeks later treatment. We saw absolutely nothing of this revolution that we've all been so invested in.

Graphic: Death, Blood, Classism
I hate the narrator, and I really could not care less about the main protagonist winter of this book. She hardly even really adds anything to the story
Perfect! This book was great! I love the lunar chronicles, and this book was a great end to the main story. I throughly enjoyed it.
