This is set around the same time as "The Help" and it centers on a young white girl and her black nanny. But that's where the comparisons end. There is so much more to this story, and it's so well-told. I actually read this a little slower than I usually read. Not because it wasn't good but rather because I wanted to take it all in. And I'm glad for that. I really liked the characters, the setting, and the way the story played out. Great read.

This was an interesting story, hard in some parts, but I enjoyed the relationships between the characters.

I listened to this one via CD borrowed from the library, and loved it; the reader's voice added much to the Southern story and the narrator's innocence. Wonderful story.
