I remember seeing so much PR for this book and now I haven't heard a peep about it! And I think that should change because this was so much fun?!
I've only vaguely heard of the musketeers in that I know it's a classic but have no idea what it's about or what a musketeer even is, so I went into this "blind". It's not really a retelling (to my knowledge) but more of a "the story of one of the musketeers kids".
We follow Tania, who is a girl ruled, it seems, by her disability and her mother's worry for her future. While Tania would rather practice fencing with her father than sew or look for a husband, her mother is adamant. What will she do when both her father and she are gone? Sadly, this reality comes too soon and without any option, Tania is shipped off to L’Académie des Mariées, where she is to be properly educated in the womanly art of finding a husband. Or at least, that's what they all believe until Tania arrives and realizes it's a sisterhood. It's everything she's always dreamed of and she's determined to make sure they know this
This story is about friendship, family, found family, challenging oneself, learning self-love, romance, murder, and the womanly art of espionage and ⚔️. I liked it so much that I really need at least a short story giving me the DEETS to her future. I need fluff and more feels! Sequel? 😏

I really enjoyed this book. I was thrilled to find an #ownvoices book about POTS and the authentic disability representation shines. The reasons I didn’t give it 5 stars were that I had a hard time getting into the story as the first part of the book is slower paced, and the French phrases and titles were a bit confusing as they weren’t always translated/explained. However the second point was easy to overcome using the translation feature on my ebook reader. Overall I would definitely recommend this book for readers looking for authentic chronic illness representation, or anyone who loves the strong female leads of a Tamora Pierce novel.h_reads98's review against another edition

a book written about a person with pots, by a person with pots, narrated by a person with pots! amazing disability rep and a really fun storyline. a bit dull at times, but picked up quickly again soon thereafter.
