Man I said I'd sit down for a half an hour to do a bit of reading and I read like half the book in one sitting, it's it's interesting and captivating. I love it loads, I remember watching the movie some years back but that's it. I'm so glad I re-read this. There's many plot twists which really make it that much more amazing.

A classic from my childhood (we won't mention that my copy is stolen from my primary school): Sachar's writing is brilliantly entertaining, the plotline allows for both tender and dramatic moments, and even though these kids are supposed to be 'troublemakers', you can't help but root for them like an affectionate band of misfits. A good dose of funny escapism, with a heartwarming ending.

CW/TW: Child abuse, prison, racism, death
Age Rating: 10+

I loved this book so, so much!!! It wove the past and the present together so beautifully. Everything made sense at the end:
how the curse was broken, why Stanley and Zero didn't get bitten, etc.
. The characters were great as well. Stanley was a good main character and I loved Zero too. This book was so much fun to read, and it's not too long.

I really enjoyed this book, all the way to the ending. I've been getting used to incomplete or unsatisfactory endings but this one left me satisfied when I turned the last page. Don't know if I would have appreciated the book as a child though with it's darker humour.
