Grave Dance was an enjoyable read.
Alex’s fae nature is becoming stronger, so we are learning more about Faerie with Alex. Alex’s fae relations look like being interesting characters and so does Kyran, the Shadow “Kingling.”
The love triangle with Falin and Death is still going – go Death!!!!
I would definitely recommend this series.

This second installment in the Alex Craft series is much improved over the first. Ms. Price has, apparently, settled down and gotten her writing groove on. The characters felt a little bit more grounded, the setting was more firmly established, and the dialogue flowed smoother. There are some small holes in the plot that I just can't follow, but they are minor ones which will hopefully be cleared up in the next book in the series. All in all, this is a solidly okay read.

DNF at 72%. There is something missing from this book. I can't tell if it is plot or characters or the worldbuilding but, frankly, I am bored.

Is this series groundbreaking? No. Is it fast-paced and reasonably entertaining? Yes. Does it manage to avoid sexual assault and any and all consent-related creepiness despite having a mildly obnoxious love triangle and manipulative fae all over the place? Also yes. I'm not demanding much from my recent urban fantasy binge and this series is hitting all necessary beats. Onward!

Was it as good as book 1? Truth be told I do not remember, I just felt I needed to read this one. And even if this one was not awesome, I still want book 3.
Alex is a cool witch, she also has hidden talents that comes to play here. I like secret pasts.
Falin, oh I do not know, I do not like him all the time. He is not the man I want for her.
Death, I mean I read this for him, I love him *swooooooons*.
Now where was I? I do not have a lot to say about this book, I swooned over Death, I liked Fairy Land, I do want more. But...it felt messy at times.

I think I liked this even better than the first! Now that the world building has been done the story was able to be fleshed out a bit more. As others have mentioned, the love triangle is a bit...cliche, but I didn't really have any issues with it. Some have also said that they felt the book was a bit long-winded and could have been cut down but I disagree. I really enjoyed how detailed some of the chapters were! Already starting book 3.

While on this little urban fantasy interlude, I decided to pick up Grave Dance, the second of the Alex Craft novels I enjoyed in February The covers don't get better just by the by. We pick up with Alex a month after the last book finished. Death is handing around in his deathy kinda way, but faery boy has gone missing. And Alex is trying to deal with some of the repercussions and revelations that obligatorily occurred during the last books climax. However, the police ask her to come investigate some chopped off feet, and all of a sudden people start sending magical constructs to try and kill her.
This was a weaker book than the first one, definitely. It was still fun, but I got bored a few times with it. It also got a lot more convoluted. And I don't know how much of that story I needed in this book. Honestly it felt like a lot of it was just set up for the next book. And I hate that when people do that. Tell me that next book if it's important. Or leave it out.
But this all being said it's still, like I said before, fun. we have surly, sarcastic Alex, hot Death, hot faery boy (he shows back up), cool witchy or faery housemates/friends, gargoyles, ghosts, hairless dogs, etc. We learn a lot more about Faery which is definitely interesting. The world building is still great. We just needed an edit I think.
