Cirkeln serien är bland det bästa jag läst på svenska. Älskade den här bokserien både när jag var ung och när jag läste om den för några månader sen. Rekommenderar för alla!

The Key is the final incredible installment in the trilogy. We follow Ida, now trapped in the Borderlands, and the remaining members of the Circle left in the town of Engelsfors as they overcome new challenges and difficulties in their final battle.

Spännande trilogi ! Alltid lika tråkigt när en bok är slut.

3.5 stars. This is the third book in a series where a circle of witches is trying to save the world. I can see why this series is popular, because it is a page turner.

This book starts slow, but manages to be interesting even though not much is happening. The ending is perfect, the story is wrapped up in such a beautiful way and I loved it more than words can describe.

4/5 stars:

This was a very nice conclusion to the trilogy and now that I'm done with the three books I can say I am very happy I finally gave them a chance.

I have to say this was a long-ass book. I mean, 800 pages. That's the longest I've read this year by far and I'm pretty sure it's the longest I've read in a very long time. The length was definitely noticeable by the middle of the book. By this I mean that the pace of the book kind of becomes stilted at around the 300-page mark. It took me a while to get engaged again but then at around page 500 or so it was back to being amazingly interesting.

The ending of the book was surprisingly realistic (within the limits of magic realism, for sure). It was a wrapped up ending but certainly not too wrapped up. I liked how everything that had happened during the trilogy and every decision the characters had taken had consequences and had created actions and things they would have to work on and carry for the rest of their lives.

There are a couple of spoilery things that I want to mention so cue spoiler cut:

Spoiler

- I FEEL LIKE I DIED AND WENT TO HEAVEN. VANESSA/LINNÉA HAS MADE ME COMPLETE AND WHOLE AND TRULY HAPPY. I WILL ALWAYS LOVE THIS BOOKS FOR GIVING ME THEM. I AM SO HAPPY WITH THE DEVELOPMENT OF THEIR RELATIONSHIP DURING THE WHOLE TRILOGY AND DEFINITELY VERY HAPPY WITH ITS DEVELOPMENT AND TREATMENT DURING THIS LAST BOOK.
I MEAN PEOPLE, THEY ARE ENDGAME. HOW FREAKING AWESOME IS THAT?! AND THEY'RE SO IN LOVE AND THEY'VE GOT SO MANY THINGS TO GO THROUGH TOGETHER YET AND <3 <3

- Sorry not sorry but Minoo/Gustaf made 0 sense and they were absolutely unshippable. I didn't hate them exactly, but their relationship was so irrelevant. I feel like Minoo/Viktor would have been a more interesting route to explore.

- Speaking of Viktor, what is up with his death?! He was insufferable at times but I had started liking him and he was complex in a good way. He made you question things and he was one of the best male characters in the series and then he has to die?! And not only that but his death is kind of thrown to the side? BOOOOO. I mean, yes, we do have some very nice conversations following it (like Felix's and Minoo's conversation at his grave which was so moving) but I still feel robbed of it having more importance.

- The scenes with all of the Chosen Ones together made me so emotional and I kind of wish this was a big fandom because I can imagine all the AUs where none of them die and they start little by little to become a family and *sigh*...

- And for the last time while reading these books for the first time, my list of favorite Chosen Ones (and yes, I include the dead because fuck it they all deserve love and happiness):
Vanessa/Linnéa (I just love them both so much and I can't choose and also they're soul mates so it's like they're one person right?), Anna-Karin, Rebecka, Ida, Minoo, Elias.
I don't know, it kind of feels that way right now. Might revise it at some point, though.
