Fun, fast, and not the most unbelievable cozy mystery I've read. I admit I skimmed a page or two... I liked the blend of ages and life stages of the characters.
I really liked this series of Meg Cabots. It was funny and fairly original. I love the main guy he is so great :) Plus I love Meg's side characters they rock. As soon as I finished I had to read the second one.
Meg Cabot is one of my favourite chick-lit authors. And this book didn't disappoint.
(Sexy PI+ ex-pop singer)* mystery = an entertaining read.

This is my first book by Meg Cabot and I'm not quite sure what the big deal is. This was a cute story but there was so much of it that i found to be annoying such as the repetitive correction of dorm to residence hall and constant reminder that size 12 is not. However it wasn't a horrible read so I will request the second story from my library to see if the series improves improves.
A great quick summer read. Although, you know how the story is going to end from the first page, Meg Cabbot creates such loveable characters that you don't mind going along for the ride.
Meg Cabot's books are always a good light read. There's lots of realistic humour and dialogue that I can appreciate when reading her novels. The plot was pretty interesting, and at several moments I was second-guessing what might happen next. I liked the main character and thought she was pretty down-to-earth and dealing with truistic emotions. I also happened to become a fan of hers and Cooper's growing relationship! I definitely need to read the next book to find out what happens there!
It met my expectations for a Meg Cabot novel, and I enjoyed reading it after reading several heavy and deep books.

Although a friend of mine has been telling me to read this for awhile, I was against actually doing so for the longest time. As it turns out, my instincts were correct... it just wasn't my fave.
If I were much younger, I feel like I'd have enjoyed this book more. At 24, I realize that I am much, much older than its targeted audience. And yet, I pride myself on still having the ability to appreciate good YA fiction. Unfortunately, I couldn't connect with the heroine on any level--and not just because she is an ex-pop star living in NYC with a private detective. I thought her tendency to whine (and her emotional dependence on junk food) were rather irritating. Even so, I could probably move past this, but these are pretty much the only character traits that are developed in Heather. It is evident that Cabot intended Heather's character to be sassy and strong (indeed, it says so in the afterword), but Heather fails to convince me. I also lose patience with the way she climbs on elevators to tell other people not to climb on elevators.
The storyline flounders a bit; it careens from lighthearted and silly to "tragic" and then back again without giving any warning. I never knew what the tone was supposed to be. Although I was pleased with the suspense in the final chapters and the eventual ending, the entire book did not come together as one cohesive piece. Overall, though, the BEST part about this book is the title...and the way it ties into the ending. Size 12 is definitely not fat.

Good mystery. I think there were some things that could have been left out that didn't really pertain to the story, but other then that I had fun reading it.
