Well, this book nothing seems like any of the Meg Cabot's book; different but interesting as always. It's a mystery thriller. This finally turned out to be my mystery thriller season!
Most importantly, with all these detective reads, I feel like my inner detective is waking up! :)

Heather Wells, size 12 ( in fact not fat, just the average size ), "one hit wonder", used to be a teen pop star with an ex-rocking husband. With all these 'exes' and 'used to be's' she is falling apart. Currently living as an assistant director in a residence hall with her ex's brother. With all the life cracking incidents, students ( girls ) of her dormitory are happened to be dead; for the police, those deaths are just results of teen stupidity, but for Heather those are probably murders. So finding the killer is all what Heather needs. But her life is not giving her an ease. with all, Heather is trapped between a killer and her own life.

I really really loved this. Such a funny book and with characters who are alive. Definitely continuing the series.

I love meg cabot whole heartedly. She writes funny adorable books that I just can't get enough of. Size 12 is Not Fat is the first adult book I have read by her, and just like her young adult books it was highly entertaining!

I just like Meg Cabot's sense of humor. This one didn't deliver in the romance department though. I was not in love with the mystery, so hopefully she was just building up the storyline for the sequel to have more romance.

Such a sweet story. And who can resist Meg Cabot?

quick, funny, cute love story

I had no intention of ever reading Size 12 Is Not Fat, even though I love Meg Cabot. My mind did not change until book four, Size 12 And Ready To Rock came unexpectedly in the mail and the general consensus among my friends who read the series is that it is great and worth reading. Of course, my peeps were right.

It held my attention to the point where I did want to find out who the killer was, but it was annoying as hell. My main issue was it felt like a YA novel (and it's not supposed to be).

-Pop culture references crammed into every possible space and most of the time completely irrelevant.

-Frequent phrases being thrown around. The title (Size 12 is Not Fat), the constant correction of 'dorm' to 'residence hall' (Heather Wells, the narrator, corrects herself AND everyone around her), and the fact she is "too lazy" to shower so she always has to have a bath (IMO baths take way more time and effort then showers).

-The ending was weird. I liked that there was a twist, but I disliked where that twist ended up going. (I'd elaborate more but it leads to a major spoiler.)

-The hardcore crushing. It's not that crushes can't hit you hard in your mid-20s... it was just the way it was handled. Every time her crush says something to her, she bemoans the fact that he's not confessing his deep-seeded love for her (and it's pretty clear that he just considers her a friend).

It's not horrible, but it would have been a lot better had there been FAR less pop culture references, gotten rid of a lot of the crush dialogue, and about 100 pages shorter. I'll probably still read [a:Meg Cabot|11654|Meg Cabot|http://photo.goodreads.com/authors/1197201648p2/11654.jpg], but not this series.

Cute in some parts, overtly graphic in others. A fun, time-waster of a read. I don't think I'll continue with this series, though. I got irritated at the lines that were repeated constantly ("residence hall" anyone?)
