I definitely enjoyed this book so much.

The both MMC’s were older, like 36 and 40 years old which I absolutely loved. Having characters who are older and have them having to start their life all over at this age is something I enjoy reading about.

Payne is 40 years old and going through a divorce after finding out his husband has been cheating on him. So he pack up his shit and moves back to his hometown where his younger brother (by 4 years) lives with his wife and two kids. Then we meet Beau, who is best friends with Paynes brother and has always had a thing for the older brother for over 20 years. Talk about pining lol

Definitely friends to lovers. We watch as Payne and Beau become roommates while Payne tries to figure hot where his life is headed at this age. I enjoyed watching their story unfold and getting to see how great they are together along with how freaking phenomenal their communication skills with each other was.

It’s easy to get lost in stories with younger characters but as an individual who is 2 years away from being 30 years old, it’s always great to see characters aged up and seeing what life is like after divorce and just trying ti move on while getting your life back on track after so long.

This is a comfort read for me. Payne and Beau are adorable and perfect. I love the dynamic. Beau has always been in love, but doesn’t tell anyone, even though they all know. DMC text thread is the best.

I find it sooo fascinating how great this book is compared to the next book- which in my opinion I hate. I love Payne and Beau

This book was cute, but it was certainly missing something for me. I liked the characters but didn’t LOVE them, they weren’t fleshed out enough for me to really fall in love with them properly. I feel like the age difference wasn’t big enough for them to make such a big deal out of it—4 years is huge at 15, not so much at 40.

I still liked the (very predictable) story and how it was built, and it was nice to see them develop into a couple, although I am still very confused as to why it took so long when their reservations didn’t really hold as a plot device for long enough in my sense.

I still had fun, and would read from this author again!
