I was into it at first, but I hate the "I can't be with you because reasons, but I'm going to act like a big, jealous jackass and sabotage your chance at a relationship with someone else" trope. It's gross and makes Payne so unlikable. The author started out with the jilted new guy being nice, but turned him into a bit of a snob as a way to justify the jealous behavior of Payne, but Payne didn't see that part of him, so he was merely acting childish. Payne was 40 years old, but acted like a big, dumb teenager. I tried to read past that point, but I couldn't get past that.

Loved everything about the main characters. The most non-toxic book, friendships and family relationships. Full of support. Also, a little steam:)

What can I say about Beau and Payne that wouldn't be said by a million others who read their love story? I'm not sure, but I will gush over them anyways.

This book is a fun, fast-paced read and will leave you laughing, gasping, and OMG-ing. It's everything I have come to expect from Saxon James yet so much more. The text messages between the Divorced Men's Club members were hilarious. I just wish there were more, but that isn't a deal-breaker - they are just fun!

The opening scene is a dead giveaway of how the book will go, and I am sure I might do something similar - if I were in his shoes. I felt terrible for Payne, but he had a great support system (even if their 'spare' bed was a BIT too small. (Enter Beau)

Oh, Beau. I am pretty sure he is one of my favorite quirky characters now. I both love and understand how his mind works. While I don't go as far as he does, I know what it's like to become so absorbed in something that you lose track of time. His creative tactics for getting into his writing were fantastic. My favorite quote: "My first thought is dragon! but thankfully I manage to keep that one to myself because duh, Beau, dragons aren't real."

I would absolutely recommend this book if you like age-gap, laughing, quirky characters, younger brother's best friend, life-long crushes realized, great chemistry, fun characters, and witty dialogue. This book can easily be read in one sitting. Even though this is the first in a series, it stands alone, although I think we met the future MCs a time or two in the story. I feel that their stories aren't going to be dependent on the other books - it's just fun knowing you will catch glimpses of other characters within each one. Happy reading!
