Second time read. I remembered not liking it much the first time, but this time I enjoyed it better. It was a somewhat gruesome, weirdly, I don’t think SK often writes about child serial killers. The tie(s) to the Dark Tower series are obvious and enlightening for those on the journey. And Jack (The Talisman) as an adult is a great hero! Loved reading about his life again.

A thinly plotted, sentimental, dark(ish) fantasy that comes complete with the standard Kingisms, making it an over-familiar read lacking in mystery and suspense.

Besides a bit of a slow start (although I didn't mind it too much) the book was a much more enjoyable read than The Talisman IMO.

This is a reread and I'm glad I did. It's wonderful!

I thoroughly enjoyed this. Black House is a sequel to The Talisman, although it also plays here and there with the mythology that King developed in the Dark Tower series, which made it even more enjoyable since I have read that series and loved it. If you enjoyed The Talisman, you'll probably want to read this one, though it does have it's own unique vibe in comparison. If I had any complaint, it's that the narrative voice made it a little difficult for me to latch on to the story at the beginning, and at various points in the book, it pulled me out of a state of immersion in the story. That's a minor point though, and I'm not a professional book critic, so I'm still throwing 5 stars at this one.

This was a fitting continuation of the story of Jack Sawyer and the Talisman with links to the Dark Tower saga. I would have rated this book 5 stars except I hated the story telling device that has the reader observing like a fly on the wall and flying from place to place. Overall though it was well done.

This is one creepy read! You can't read it until you've read The Talisman- it's the long awaited and much worth it follow up.

Actual rating 4.5
This was an interesting continuation of the Talisman and further a complimentary book to the Dark Tower series. My half star deduction was due to the first 150 pages or so were incredibly and dauntingly slow. I knew there is always a build up in Stephen King's books but geez this was very slow. I am very glad I continued on because it was well worth it. I loved the world created and continued by King in this Territories saga.
I dont believe it is a necessity to read the Dark Tower series first but it is incredibly helpful.

A bit too descriptive for my taste, but I do enjoy this world.

the first talisman book was so good and this was NOT
i loved all the dark tower stuff but ya know what it took too long to connect to it, AND ????????????????????????????????????? it seemed like this was just a half-hearted sequel to the talisman it should've just been an independent book w/out the talisman character of jack tbh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
