The 4th installment in the Odd Thomas series. Not quite as good as the first three but still a good read. I felt a big disappointment at the end, I wasn't ready for the book to just end like that. I'm looking forward to the 5th installment.
Not as good as the first three books, there is not too much supernatural going on and the plot is a bit boring
Well, well, well. I have finally found a book that I was not that enthusiastic about.
First of all, don't get me wrong. I LOVE Odd Thomas. Despite the disappointment I felt with the ending of this book, I still love the character and will absolutely read more Odd books. Now, I shall complain or whine a bit ;)
1. What purpose does Annamaria serve? She appears in the beginning to be the main focus of the story but she really isn't. Odd pledges to die for her and she gives him a bell to wear around his neck and he hides her away. We never learn much more about her! There has to be more to her due to the references she makes about Stormy (Odd's lost girl). Also, the actual plot with the nuclear devices could have been made a bit more "exciting" had someone found Annamaria and was hunting her down etc. Whatever, I'm not a writer, I'm just whining right now.
2. WTH with the coyotes? Where do they fit into all of this?
3. Why is Odd sharing visions by touching people? Is there more to this?
4. Who is the next musician that will follow Odd now that Sinatra is gone? :) Just kidding
I liked the book, I just didn't love it like I did the others. I felt that there were a lot of questions left unanswered and that frustrates me - especially when I'm not sure if they're ever going to be answered!
I did enjoy Odd's relationship with Hutch and Boo. The scene in the police station where Sinatra goes nuts is pretty good too but I was left wanting more.
I agree with a lot of the other readers of this book, take Odd back to Pico Mundo! :)

Wondering
This would've been a 4 star rating had the end been more satisfying. The story was intriguing but the end left too much unfinished. I hope the next book wraps things up.

I really enjoy these strange and silly urban/paranormal fantasy stories.
Odd has settled momentarily at Magic Beach where he and The Chairman of the Board have to prevent a global catastrophe. The fry cook is working for a former leading man of black and white film as cook and chauffeur.
While I liked this book a lot, and love the character of Odd Thomas, I feel like it sort of left me hanging. I have a whole lot of questions that were never answered that I'm hoping will be addressed in the next book, In Odd We Trust, which I will run out and buy today!
Odd Thomas takes on the world.... and wins...
A very good read for those who enjoy the action of the previous books...
Odd is involved in international terrorism prevention and survives to tell the tale... Odd overcomes his fear of guns and goes on the rampage... only getting bad guys of course...
