This is going on my favorite books list. I work in a library and was drawn to Lucy before I read the book. I have seen some of the things that she had to deal with, plus children like Ian and his mom. I feel like her sometimes, wishing I could change things that I feel are not right. This would be a great book club book. It was fantastic. I would recommend it to everyone, especially those who work in a library.

I really thought this book would be better. I liked the idea and I wish it had been done well, but it was just annoying. I disliked the characters and the writing didn't really work very well. Maybe her newer works are better, but this was a bit of a slog.

This book was interesting from a moral perspective. It was hard to connect to the characters and some of the behavior of the child didn't feel age appropriate, but I think I liked the ending and it was certainly compelling to read.
