I loved the simplicity of “The Fishing Lesson” and I hope the tourist understood the message!

There is an old joke about a tourist trying to persuade a fisherman to work harder.

The punch line, is, that if he works hard, all his life, he can retire and going fishing in the very village that the tourist is visiting.

It is a good joke, and the book plays on it.

And a good lesson for kids, I suppose, that perhaps life isn't all about unbridled ambition, to get to their final goal.

Not sure how tis would play with most industrialized countries.

Cute enough presentation.
Thanks to Netgalley for making this book available for an honest review.

I'm not sure that a younger child will quite understand the moral of this story, but as a parent I appreciated it. The story line was also interesting and we really enjoyed the pictures. The comic book-feel to many of the pages was a nice touch too.

Great great children book!! The illustration are beautiful, but it's the story and the message that it has that make it so great. A moral about how wrong and stupid our world is to try to make us always want more and more to finally get us in a loop that bring us back to what should be a easy and beautiful life! One of the best message/moral I have seen in a kid book for a long time!!

An enjoyable read. I loved the simplicity of this story, and the vibrant colors the illustration choose to work with. What a wonderful book!

I have received a much appreciated digital copy of this book from NetGalley and the publisher in exchange for an honest review.

First off, the illustrations remind me of the Simpsons. And I love them. A local fisherman is napping in his boat when a tourist interrupts with the snapping of photos. The Tourist starts telling the fisherman how to grow his business. But in the end it will be the Fisherman who has the last word. I loved this book. I think a few more adults need to read this title. Simply wonderful.
