This part of the series introduced some great new characters!
I was a little surprised by the ending that felt a little sudden, so I’m starting the next one immediately ;)

My feelings towards this series had been mixed along the way. The short stories were entertaining enough, however the main series felt bogged down by politics, overlong chapters and incessant dialogue from so many characters that it was unclear who was saying what!

Now halfway through the main series, this instalment goes back to basics and hones in mostly on Geralt’s adventures across kingdom and country to find his dear Ciri. And thank goodness for that! Add in some interesting new characters and exciting events along the way and we have a cracking read. Long may it continue in the next instalments!

Baptism of Fire is the best book in The Witcher series. (That I have read so far. I have 3 books to go.)
The plot progression here is fast paced and very well executed. I love how most of the book is from Geralt's point of view.
Geralt was wounded badly and ended up in a coma after the battle. He did stay in Brokilon for a few months. After he recovered, he went on a hunt to rescue Ciri. The Witcher was joined by Milva, Regis, Dandelion, and Cahir.
Ciri and Yennefer was barely in this book but when they were it was awesome. I also enjoyed the meeting with the sorceresses.
I honestly enjoy magic and battles in fantasy books.
