The second entry in the series picks up shortly after the end of the first.

There's more growth for John in this book. Having let "Mister Monster" slip the leash in order to deal with the demon Crowley in book 1, John's having trouble getting him back under control. It's interesting to watch him develop as a person, and justify his actions and self-restrictions.

Another killer is in town, and the FBI thinks it's related to the first one, somehow. The agent on the scene is also very interested in John.

The denouement switches gears from John's internal struggles and desires to a more action focused sequence as the killer is brought to bay and they face off in a straight horror sort of confrontation.

All in all, a quick listen and enjoyable.

Excellent follow up to the first book - the stakes were upped, and John's character is being fleshed out more.

This was a really good book that continues a lot of great aspects that were in I Am Not A Serial Killer. Really, the only part of this book I didn't like was some violence towards animals. Still, I should warn that it's even more violent and dark than the first one.

I finally finished this book!!
After four months of laying around, I picked it up again and finally read through it.
I read like the half of it in February and then picked it up again two days ago.
And after I've read three chapters the day before yesterday, the action already started and I almost read it in one sitting.
It was a gripping second book in the trilogy. A really great read with another interesting plot.
I'm liking John more, although he showed his darker side more often than in the first book and it got really dark and I despised it. But still. He has my sympathy.
I'm looking forward to the third and final installment in the series.

I'm still flabbergasted that this series is marketed as "teen." Just because something has a teen character doesn't make it teen! This is Dexter jr with demons, and it's really graphic. The main character is trying hard to do the right thing but has difficulty controlling his dark urges. I'll probably read the 3rd book just to see if anything unexpected happens.
