For some reason my digital version concluded with the first chapter of another Strout book, which I gamely read to the end expecting Olive to pop up and sail through. I was very disappointed when she didn't!!

I have pros and cons about this book.
pros: I like that it's a collection of stories, I like that we see multiple stages of Olive's life, I like how the characters connect. I loved it for the first section or so. olive herself is unique.
cons: the writing itself is very simple, not in any way advanced. the theme/message is roughly the same across all the anecdotes, so I got bored quickly - nothing feels dynamic. nothing good or happy happens in the entire book, and this was pretty draining since nothing was really changing, either.
