The book had a lot of potential, I did enjoy some parts and there are important messages for women in the book but I felt it was too slow and the plot just didn't hook me up

Poppy Lively is in trouble. Her accountant has stolen all of her money, the IRS is threatening to take her house and put her in prison, and she’s trying to send her daughter to nursing school. When she runs in to the one who got away and he offers her a lucrative job in wardrobe on a movie set, she cannot say no. So she packs up her van and heads to California.

When she gets there, people are dismissive if not hostile towards the kind midwestern woman. But she does manage to make some friends. The best of which is a female dog named Kevin. She learns and observes and she starts to think something may be going on on set.

I’m not sure what genre I’d put this book in. It’s not really a rom com, it’s not really a mystery, although it has elements of both. But it has a really nice message. A reminder that kindness and doing the right thing may not always garner respect, but they do get results. And that it really is possible to look out for others while still taking care of yourself.
