3.5 rounded up. This was a feel-good beach read about three middle aged women who work together at a bookstore/giftshop/bakery and spend the year taking a second chance at love. Each of the characters has their own unique challenges and baggage to overcome but I loved how three dimensional they were and how relatable their problems felt. Full of some steamy open door scenes, this was a great summer read perfect for fans of Sarah Morgan or Debbie Macomber. Much thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for my advance review copy!
I enjoyed this book. It was a fun "beach" read. I enjoyed the characters and the honesty and development of each of them. There are a couple of blunt sexual references so if this is something that would bother you, just know it's there and you can skip past it. This is the first time reading this author and I look forward to reading another book by her. I finished this one in about four days.
I think I may have read 100 books with the word bookshop in it. This is a cheesy beach read that was available from the library to fill my 4th of July. Mindless but entertaining.

This was just not my cup of tea. The characters felt flat, the romance felt stale, and there wasn't any charm or humor (both of which are necessities for good romance in my opinion.)
Obviously, romance books are completely subjective. This might be right up someone's alley, but for me the search for the next great summer love story continues.

Brilliant. The best one yet. Seriously. Read it today.
Just a classic, simple narrative of three women and their journeys of friendship and love. The setting reminded me of a Hallmark movie which is what originally drew me in. The idea of a bookshop/gift shop/bakery on a beach boardwalk sounds so comforting and immediately took me to a happy place, however, character arcs didn't quite live up to their potential and there were a couple small storylines that I didn't feel were fully wrapped up. All in all there was nothing wrong overall with this story, just not mind blowing or heart wrenching. I will say it won major points when one of the characters gave a short monologue about bees’ endangerment and their importance to the ecosystem. It had no purpose within the plot, which makes me think this was more of a personal passion of the author's and I loved every second of it.

Three women are business partners and through this they have become friends. Bree, the owner of the bookshop is a widow who keeps relationships at arms length. Ashley owns the muffin business and is in a long term relationship, but she is ready for the next level. Mikki is the gift shop and has been happily divorced for three years and may just enter the dating market, but it could turn her world upside down.
As I like to warn folks who read my reviews, there were definitely some sexy times in each of the women's stories and while it worked in each of their stories, if you try to avoid books with these scenes, this one may be on the cusp - but you may want to try this one as there is enough plot to enjoy this book.
