I enjoyed this book although I had a strange "deja vu" feeling half-way through the book; like I had already read this story so much as I knew how it ended.

Bree Larton, Mikki Bartholomew and Ashley Burton didn’t know each other six months ago, but fate brought the three together when they bought a beachfront property in Los Angeles. Individually, the rent was too high, but together the three of them took their stores; Driftaway Books, The Gift Shop and Muffins to the Max and created The Boardwalk Bookshop. Sounds like paradise, right?

Mallory shares their lives from relationships to the storefront. Bree has commitment issues, Mikki is divorced and has just started dating and Ashley, who has been expecting an engagement ring, learns her long-term boyfriend has other plans for them.

The three soon become fast friends and I loved their Friday afternoon wine chats. Mallory made me feel a part of it and I loved seeing the women encourage each other and following all the happenings.

Narrated by Tanya Eby, I quickly became caught up in the different threads from books to kisses with complications. The author did a lovely job of pulling me in and sharing everything from the mundane to the unexpected.

Tanya Eby was delightful as the narrator, giving voice to Bree, Ashley and Mikki. This is a great summer listen and the perfect women’s fiction for those who like a touch of romance. This review was originally posted at Caffeinated Reviewer

Add a star if you like romance, but if you are like me, take away a star if you look for some depth. Any title with bookshop is always appealing, but the book is focused on the personal relationships three friends have with the men in their lives. Bree has had a neglected upbringing, ha closed herself off except for the bookstore in space she shares with Ashley and Mikki. Mikki is a divorcee with a gift shop, looking to start dating again, while Ashley is questioning why her boyfriend Seth has not proposed yet. This was just okay, nothing special. Thanks to NetGalley for the ARC.

love the bookshop on the boardwalk of it all, however, i felt like this book was a hundred pages longer than it needed to be, so after a while the issues each character was dealing with just seemed a little too repetitive and dragged out to me

This was an easy romance read. I really like Susan Mallory but this one felt a bit … average for me. The predictability and the basic ness of the characters bored me a bit a few times. But still a fun easy romance

What I really love about this book is how realistic the characters and relationships are. I didn’t feel like I was being force fed sappy, plot-convenient romantic crap that many authors think all readers want.

Recommended as a light read, I enjoyed the audiobook as a background kinda read - even though there were some unexpectedly spicy bits!

This was a fun little beach read by the amazing Susan Mallery. While not my most favorite of her books, I really did enjoy this story of Bree, Ashley, and Mikki. Each of these women has their own struggles in the beginning of the story, and each has their own, unique story arc that progresses naturally and beautifully throughout the book.

I love reading Mallery's stories of friendships between women. This was a cute, relaxing, quick read.
