This is a classic book that people have praised as a feminist text that I have been meaning to read for almost six years. So when it was assigned as class reading, I was all about it.
Jane Eyre is my first introduction to Victorian Gothic literature, and it knocked me sideways. I had no expectations, which made this book that much more bewildering to read. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a feminist text, a Victorian Gothic text, or anything to read anytime ever.
There is a piece of me that hopes there is a piece of Charlotte Bronte somewhere laughing her ass of at the reception this book has gotten from the feminist audience.
