More like 3.5 stars. I enjoyed this book. It moved well, perhaps too quickly at times and had interesting characters. The end veered a little too close to romance fiction for my taste but I'm a sucker for any female journalist characters, especially WWII era ones.

I’ve loved all of Jennifer Robson’s books, so just trust me, read this one!

This was just uneventful and a little boring for me. I had high expectations because I love historical fiction romances but this did not deliver what I wanted it to.

This book really drew me in, I feel like I was in London during the Blitz and the years of the war. Ruby is a fledging American journalist who is sent to England to work for a weekly news magazine. She has a great deal of natural talent for writing and because she is a person who listens to people she develops really good reporting skills. Very good book.

This book has been sitting on my to-read shelf for a while, and I was delighted to pick it up over my fall reading break. Something about wartime books is just so special: it has a classy sort of nostalgia, and Jennifer Robson is no exception. This book was incredibly rich in historical accuracy, you can really see how well Robson researched for this book and how passionate she is on the era. Her characterisation of Ruby, Bennett, Kaz, Vanessa and the menagerie of her other characters were well developed and well rounded. She painted a brilliant backdrop of wartime London; even for someone who has never been there, it felt like I was truly experiencing the sights and sounds alongside Ruby.
I'm all for books that educate historically as well as impact emotionally, and Goodnight from London does exactly that. Wartime London is easily dramatised, the glitzy stories of the Blitz often romanticised. But Robson does a brilliant job of painting a portrait of London during the Blitz was masterful historical accuracy, while maintaining a humanistic level of empathy that urges the reader to not only educate oneself on history, but to reflect on the sacrifices made during that time by everyday civilians, just like them. A brilliant read and story! Bravo. Five out of five for sure.

I loved this book. Jennifer Robson is one of my favourite authors and this book did not disappoint. It was such a great read. I loved the characters and the World War 2 setting. Definitely worth the read. I look forward to reading whatever she writes next.
