Terry Pratchett is a modern Mark Twain. He gets into your good graces with humor, and makes his point by wrapping the essential (in)humanity of human beings deeply into your psyche and intestinal system as he goes along. An excellent "gonne" control manifesto set in the Discworld. Loved it!

Guilty pleasure (cop book) but a tremendous third act.

 Angua my beloved...
Even though this is the second book in the City Watch series, to me this is the real beginning of the Watch as it grows.
The final twist of the plot came a bit out of nowhere for me, but maybe I just missed the exact details - I started a new jigsaw game while reading the audiobook and occasionally got distracted by the new rules.
Angua is my fav, as she always has been, and the voice the narrator gave her was hilarious.
