I really liked this initially but had to slog through the end. Birdie freaks out after having sex with Daniel one night, and runs off. They are reunited when she ends up working at the same hotel as him, and they agree to work together to determine the identity of famous author who is a regular guest at the hotel.
Birdie's naviety and apprehension about dating annoyed me but felt realistic for a sheltered girl navigating her first relationship. I appreciated how this book dealt with mature themes - Birdie has narcolepsy and Daniel is deaf in one ear due to a previous suicide attempt .
It felt like the plot stopped progressing to focus on their relationship and respective families, which only makes sense after the final reveal. This hinges on Daniel not telling Birdie that he suspects and later knows that [major] the writer they've been following is his absent father - which I didn't like and I was surprised Birdie got over it so quickly.
Overall, a perfectly fine novel that I probably would have enjoyed more if I was younger.

Overall, this book wasn't the best thing I've ever read and it wasn't without flaws, but I loved that we had a main character of a book with narcolepsy. I've personally never seen it in a book or had to deal with it in real life, so it was interesting to see and read about. But I did spend the entire book rooting for this romance and Daniel was just a cinnamon bun. I loved him.

Serious Moonlight follows one night standers Birdie and Daniel as they work the night shift at a hotel. Birdie loves a good mystery, either reading about them or solving them herself while Daniel is a great carpenter and magician. A mystery brews where a famous author never seen before by anyone checks in to the hotel they work at every Tuesday night.
Jenn Bennett has a great eye for detail. All her characters are so unique and well developed in their own way making this book a great balanced read. I absolutely love the unique settings and plotlines that we also see. For instance, I want to now attend a date that is inspired by Clue the game set in a mansion complimented with dinner! I want to live in a run down cinema my parents left for me!
Some themes to beware of however are as follows:
1. Suicide
2. Attempted Suicide
3. Cataplexy
4. Pregnancy Problems
5. Death of a Parent/Loved One
