Yellowfang has always been one of my favourite characters, and her backstory has been one of the better Warrior reads.
I had no idea that Yellowfang was a warrior before becoming a medicine cat! It may have been mentioned earlier in the series (reading in order of release), but I may have missed that as I have been powering through.
This super edition ends on a really sad note. My heart goes out to her, and thank goodness we know how things go after this story in The Prophecies Begin.

Yellowfan’s Secret review: 4 Stars. I finished it! I liked a lot of the stuff, like learning about her special ability, I LOVED hearing how Runningnose got his name, and the elders were a highlight. I did feel quite bad for Yellowfang that she didn’t have better mentors and ShadowClan just felt so disjointed it’s not fair to their cats. I think that will be less of a problem when we see them later now that they are on the right path again. Felt like it took me ages even though it didn’t. I am slightly disappointed because I had been thinking that I would like this one more then the others since it was about on of my favorite characters, but it felt to me like they sort of made up an odd backstory for Yellowfang. It didn’t fit as well as Bluestar’s I feel, but who knows maybe it’s just a dilemma that I will see in many of the backstories but I hope not

Yellowfang is easily one of the best, most complex characters in the series (so far). Reading her story absolutely gutted me, there was so much tragedy in her life. She truly deserved better from ShadowClan and especially Raggedstar. I will never forgive him for the way he treated her. Although the characters and story were great, this was an emotionally taxing book, even moreso than many of the previous books in the series. I need something light and fun now....
Graphic: Toxic relationship, Abandonment
Moderate: Animal death, Child death
