Ich habe die ersten Teile der Reihe gelesen. Da dies Horror Geschichten waren habe ich das gleiche erwartet bei diesem Buch. Doch sie kam nicht. Dazu fehlte der Plot und alles war irgendwie vorhersehbar. Aber der Schreibstil der Autorin war sehr schön und man konnte förmlich drüber fliegen.

This was a quick and easy read, and I did enjoy getting swept along in the story. Henry made some interesting observations about society, human nature and being viewed as "different". However, if you've read a fair bit of Henry's works before, which I have, this is much less dark and perhaps more melancholic.

Den Schreibstil fand ich anfangs sehr gewöhnungsbedürftig und ich habe mich längere Zeit gefragt, wo die Geschichte überhaupt hingehen soll.
Die Liebesgeschichte zwischen Levi und Amelie hat mich nicht so sehr gepackt und auch die Sache mit dem Kind hab ich nicht wirklich verstanden. Es war dennoch eine interessante Geschichte und die Ansichten von Amelia haben mir gefallen.

A slightly rushed ending couldn't take much away from this lovely, incisive book. I would have loved to learn more about the mermaids, but Amelia was wonderful, and Christina Henry's writing was very soothing and readable. I took a pause near the halfway mark, but counting all the hours I actually spent reading I probably finished it in a day or two - very quickly; it would have made a great book to read while travelling. I'll have to check out Henry's other books and see if there's any others not too scary for me!
