This book got off to a slow start - the first 150 pages or so were a bit painful to get through, but once the pace picked up, I loved this book. A little spice heavy, but given Nesta and Cassian's fiery personalities, this made sense for them.

Nesta's redemption arc and the healing journey the women go through was incredible. I loved how
the women all supported each other and found healing from their past traumas through their training. And the fact they competed in the Illyrian Blood Rite together with two of them reaching the summit and winning the whole thing?! So badass!

I can't wait for the next book to come out!

A Court of Silver Flames is the fourth book in the A Court of Thorns and Roses series. This book follows Nesta after the end of the war with King Hybern. She is dealing with a lot of stuff in her life and not handling it in a good way. Feyre basically banishes her to the night court where she is required to train with Cassian during the day and work in the library at work. Nesta makes new friends along the way and grows as a person.

I'm glad that I stuck with this series. I think I really could’ve loved this book had I not been dealing with some personal issues myself. It made reading certain parts of the story very difficult. I plan to one day re-read the series and hopefully I enjoy A Court of Silver flames better on the second go.

Nesta’s healing journey is incredibly important to me. This is my favorite of the series thus far. 6/5

I was surprised how much I enjoyed this book. Maas writes this book in third person, whereas the previous three (not including ACOFAS) are written in the first person from Feyre’s perspective.

It was a change but it really worked for the better as we follow Nesta, Feyre’s sister, and Cassian, one of the Illyrian brothers, as he trains her for punishment for her behaviour.

However, this brings them closer together and Nesta realises that she might actually enjoy the training, as long as she can recruit others.

I loved this part because we had met some other women previously in the series that hadn’t come from the best background and Nesta gave them a chance to prove their worth- seeing their friendship develop was worth every second. I loved it. Family can be found, it doesn’t always have to come from blood.

Cassian got annoyed with Nesta easily over her actions, they both have fiery tempers, but it made sense once you find out why they have such a connection.

The steamy scenes are so spicy 🌶️  that I had to take a minute before moving on.

I liked that this book tied up some loose ends, I just wish we’d seen more of Elain, she kind of disappeared into the background. (My hope for ACOTAR six is Elain’s story)

It started off quite slow but in the end I couldn’t put it down!

5/5 stars.

Very very good. First part I was unconvinced. Read like the author had written fan fiction about her own series. But then about halfway through it really took off and transformed and I ended up really really enjoying it
