The Wife Lie by Anya Mora is a Domestic Thriller that was a super fast read. While there were several parts that seemed repetitive, there were a few twists (predictable and not predictable ones) to the book. Unfortunately, if you are looking for a happily ever after, it does not happen.

The Wife Lie had a very interesting plot that was a twist on the old "he is not the man you thought he was". Penny goes back and forth between thinking that her missing husband, Ledger, was a liar and not the man she thought he was, to believing he was truly a good husband and father, and just protecting her. There were some good plot twists, but none that weren't too predictable. This might have been a more solid read, but there was a great deal of repetition which became annoying to me; however, it did make for a quick read.

Thanks to Hidden Gems Books for a review copy.

The end was a bit of a surprise. I didn't love this one as much as her others. But it still had an ending I couldn't quite predict.

I can usually suspend belief for some books, but the ending of this one was too much to ignore.

I read this book in about 2.5 hours. It was good, fast-paced. I almost stopped reading it about 3/4 of the way through, but I decided to stick it out and I’m glad I did. The ending was good (which is why it got 4 instead of 3 stars).

Penny’s husband, Ledger, goes missing after a possibly fatal vehicle wreck. Then his other wife shows up on Penny’s front porch wanting to talk... Now the question is, did Ledger try to kill himself? Did he fake his death? Did someone else try to kill him? So many questions. All with answers - but what a trip this book will take you on.

DNF. I should’ve known by the title, but I was gripped by the synopsis. However the writing was so trite. When said “unruly curls,” talking about herself, I just couldn’t do it anymore.

Also, I was listening to the audiobook version, and the narrator was just way too enthusiastic.

Great read.

The story was up and down, with twists you almost thought you had figured out but- no- it changed again. Bittersweet.

That was absolutely nothing like I thought it was going to be. Every single time I thought I had this book figured out something else changed. This was a fun one.

If you suspend all common sense, you can enjoy this book.  The fact that SO many unbelievable things happen in 1 week to the same person is hard to swallow.  But, the story is intriguing.  It does get a bit repetitive at times (how many times do you need to say that they are soul mates.  We get it!!) but I did like the whole "make your end ending" aspect of the story.  A fun read... but don't think too deeply about it.
