Alexandra “Lex” Granger (aka Sasha White) is in such a dilemma. What she initially thought was “her choice/option” is now “required” and she was emotionally ‘blackmailed’ for the love and honor of her boss, Henry, thus ensuring the company’s job security and also it made it seem like “national security” to maintain the good relationship between countries. I felt for her since she is a good employee – diligent and focused, then to be thrown in a situation that she is handicapped that the person she needs to protect doesn’t know and seems to have a preconceived idea in the worst way. It makes everything stack up against her badly.
description
Michael Thornton seems to be too cautious of a man. We all can understand his concern with women coming on to him and “using” him for his fame, power and money but it was stated clearly what he wants and expects with hiring Lex so he should be respectful of it. For a rich man, his manners are lacking so much that he goads Lex to the point of belittling her. I did not like how he treated her, even if she is the “hired help”. He has to remember that she’s still a human being. He can respect her and expect her to do the job, just like any of his employees.

As I read through the book, I realized that although there are some reviewers in the past who warned me that there is the pitfall of stories seeming to be repetitive, I didn’t see it for Ravina’s books yet. (Note that I’ve read her sophomore book, The Billionaire’s Secret, first versus this one.)
I enjoy her writing and her colorful characters. Granted there is some similarity of women saving their men, the plot ends there. There were a lot of unanticipated things that Ravina added in this book that I liked. The language was easy to follow and makes it a good fast enough read but is action-packed, mixed with some internal conflict/drama.

Readers will get frustrated with Michael’s stubbornness and arrogance in not realizing his safety while feeling so helpless for Lexi since she’s trying her very best. He played with Lex's feelings and confused her so much for the purpose of putting a “story” behind their relationship to make things convincing without realizing that he’s also making himself vulnerable to the inevitable – back and forth attractions.

There are a few ‘double standard’ arguments posed by Lex to Michael when he would berate her on her work/background and even how she acted as a ‘cover’ that I found interesting and very astute of her. It really proved the point that Michael takes advantage of women without realizing that being treated in the reverse would make him feel inadequate. I liked how Ravina pointed this time and time again in the book – very blatantly too.

There were a lot of hot scenes which is Ravina’s forte as I read her other books. She’s known for a lot of ‘tasteful, unexpected encounters’ so expect more of this in the book. There is a lot of heated arguments followed by these intense scenes.
“And I simply adore the way you say the word ‘only’ and then refuse to finish your sentence until prompted.”
— Michael, The Billionaire Needs a Bodyguard

The ending was amazing! I did not see it coming – even as I read it. I was wrong to assume that I could predict what Ravine’s thought process is because I haven’t been right in this book either. It was a pretty spectacular one then the aftermath was like a big “mic -drop” moment and left me speechless then things moved faster and it was done before you know it. I think Michael’s head spun so fast as I had that we both got whiplash with the events that followed. Things were timed like clockwork and the plan that Lex/Sasha was a professional in all of it! All I can say is, read the book.
He could make a simple statement and make it sound like a promise.
— Lex, The Billionaire Needs a Bodyguard

I would recommend this book for readers who want the ‘unexpected girl’ to win, for the underdog to reinvent herself and succeed; and for those who want to prove the dominant male lead that there is a strong female heroine that can protect their targets with her wit and physical skill. It has a suspense/mystery theme that had a hidden love story that won me over.

I have received this book in exchange for an honest review. I have given The Billionaire Needs A Bodyguard by Ravina Hilliard three out of five stars ⭐️ ⭐️⭐️

One steamy hot mess of a book which grabbed my attention almost immediately! Over the past couple of years, I’ve been checking out more adult romance books and really enjoy them, especially due to the passionate and steamy sex scenes which normally follow. This book was no exception and gave me all that I wanted within an adult romance novel.

This story follows two characters, Lex Granger and Michael Thornton. Lex is an undercover bodyguards for billionaire businessman. I thought she was quite an interesting character, although she gave in quite easily at times to Michael which made me thought she was desperate at times. However, I’ve concluded that the main reason why she acted this way sometimes is because she fell in love with Michael almost instantly and simply couldn’t help herself. Michael Thornton was also an interesting character, a man who could have anyone and everyone. A smart, intelligent billionaire who falls for an “escort”. He didn’t treat Lex well at times, the main reason being that he thought she was a gold-digging con-artist, not that that’s an excuse to treat someone badly, however I loved seeing his delicate and mushy side towards Lex.

I enjoyed Hilliard’s writing style, it flowed well and I liked her use of descriptive writing. Hilliard expressed a lot of emotion on paper between Lex and Michael and showed their strengths and weaknesses in great detail. Very engaging, however I did find some grammatical and spelling errors which threw me off at times but the writing quickly drew me back into the story.

An interesting concept which overall I enjoyed, there were times where I thought the plot wasn’t very believable. For example, the fact that Lex allows Michael to treat her like rubbish although she’s supposed to be this strong badass who is protecting him from death threats made me question her character at times, especially with thinking that she’s not cut out to do this job if she’s a bit of a push over.

I thought that the ending was quite rushed and would’ve loved for the events that took place near to the end to have lengthened out a little so it didn’t feel like everything was happening all too fast. This book has its flaws, but don’t we all? Besides that point, I really enjoyed this story and learning about these two characters on their love adventure.

Alexandra ‘Lex’ Granger is supposed to be his bodyguard. Her job is to protect him. But when her duty leaves her heart unprotected, she must ignore her feelings to keep him safe.
Michael Thornton isn't supposed to choose her. He doesn't trust people from her line of job. But his trust has nothing to do with his heart because he's falling for her before he even realizes it.
They want each other. They crave each other. But when his life is at stake, could she risk it all? Could she risk her secret being revealed? Between lies and betrayals, their love and desire burn.

SIZZLING ROMANCE | UNDERCOVER BODYGUARD | QUICK WITTED FMC | HEA
note: this book contain scenes for mature audiences

I am totally blown away by this book. When I read the synopsis, I knew I would like it. I have always loved adult romance books, especially if it involves some kind of undercover bodyguard. The Billionaire Needs a Bodyguard did not disappoint. It exceeded my expectations and served me a story that was totally enjoyable and extremely HOT!

“Then what is it that you want? Say it and I'll give it to you.”

The story started with a nice pace that made me want to keep reading. It focused on the romance between the two characters so the action scenes were not as much as I hoped for. But because of that, I could clearly see their growing feelings for each other, their desire, and also the reasons why they couldn't be together. I think that is beautiful and kept me interested throughout the whole book.

Aside from the love story, I also liked the interaction between the two main characters. Lex is a smart and independent woman while Michael is a proud and accomplished man. I could only describe it as fire met with fire. That's what made it all the more interesting. They're also each other's biggest supporter and admirer. Though I admit, I'm not a fan of Michael because of the way he acted towards Lex but when the time comes, he fought the hardest for their love.

“When I set my mind on something, I make damn sure I achieve it. Whatever it takes.”

Talking about fire met with fire, the love scenes in this book were hot enough to burn my Kindle! What I liked is that those scenes weren't just existing for the sake of having them in the book. Those scenes were not only displays of desire but also implicitly showed their position in this situation. When I read them, I felt their want and passion, I felt their desperation to be with each other, I felt their hopelessness, and I felt their love. IMO, the love scenes were not only hot as hell but also beautiful and meaningful.

Overall, I enjoyed The Billionaire Needs a Bodyguard! Sure, it has some flaws and it may be not for everyone. But this book is perfect for you who love adult contemporary romance and billionaire trope. The story is nicely written with awesome characters and steamy sexual scenes. If you're looking for a quick great romance read, I really recommend this book.

I gave this book 3.7 out of 5 stars. I received this book from Dawn Hill Publishing as part of the DHP book reviewers club program. I live for short adult romance books like this, however, this is a bit different from the ones that I have read in the past months.

Here we follow Alex who is a private security consultant (Just think of her as a highly-skilled bodyguard who protects high-profile clients), she is deployed to protect Michael who is a billionaire (by the way, of course, he is hot) and he is being targeted by people he is in business with. Because they didn't want him to know that she is a bodyguard, she goes undercover as an escort.
As expected Michael thinks that she is a gold-digger who is trying to get him for his money and digs into her past just served him information that the security company put out to support her new cover. Soon he begins to see past the surface, and see that she is smart and resourceful and he begins to fall in love with her (without him knowing it, of course). Anyways, Lex is able to catch the person who has been threatening his life and she is finally able to go back to her life, only he is not able to let her go and she is not able to stop thinking about him. So when he ends up at her doorstep, she wonders if a second chance is worth all the humiliation she felt when she was with him.

There are a few things about this book that just made me roll my eyes so hard, and it was just the way things were worded in this book. It reminds me of old harlequin books, where they felt the need to use every other word than the penis, breast, and vagina. Its been a while since I read sex scenes like this, I think it is cute. Anyways I really enjoyed this.

The Billionaire Needs a Bodyguard focuses on Lex Granger, a bodyguard hired to pose as an escort to protect billionaire Michael Thornton. Due to a new requisition, added threats surround Micheal, but he does not want added security. So, Lex is secretly hired to pose as his escort, which he needs to avoid the wife of one of his business associates.

Though Lex is intent on performing her job to the best of her ability, she never expected to fall for her client. Michael, in turn, fights his feeling for Lex believing that she is only doing her job. Can they reveal their truths and uncover the enemy that threatens to destroy them?

This is a quick and steamy contemporary romance with an interesting story and complicated relationships. The fast-paced story and the intense action were the highlights of the novel. The romance is steamy but has many complications.

The main romance is built on lies, which causes so many problems for Lex and Michael. Michael is sure that Lex is a gold-digger, and he determines to give her a taste of her own medicine. Lex is trying to keep Michael alive while concealing her true identity. This causes confusion, misunderstandings, and many arguments.

Michael’s attraction to Lex is obvious, but he struggles to reconcile his feelings. When he hires Lex as his escort and then belittles her for being an escort, I became disenchanted. I think some of his behavior stems from his confusion about his feelings, but his demeanor is arrogant and elitist. There is no excuse for how he treats her, and their arguments are mean-spirited and hateful. Plus, their relationship is based completely on lies. This does put them on even ground since they were both lying to each other, but it isn’t the best way to start a relationship.

However, when Michael and Lex let their guards down, they have a strong and lovely connection. Their growing feelings shatter the walls both so carefully constructed. Obstacles that prevent them from being honest with each other propel the plot almost as much as the suspicious threats against Michael.

I find the mystery behind Micheal’s death threats interesting, and I like Lex’s take-charge attitude. She is intelligent, unassuming, and sincere. I also like that Lex is the bodyguard and Michael needs protection. This is a reversal from the typical romantic characters where the man protects the helpless female, and it is what initially piqued my interest.

Thanks so much to Dawn Hill Publications for providing me with a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
