This book was very different than what I expected prior to reading it, but in the very best way. All of the characters were complicated people, the mystery kept you guessing, and the storyline evolved extremely well. I'm not normally one for thrillers, but this one was so good, and so well written to prevent the romantic or dramatic subplots from taking over.

This book was a quick, easy read of mystery. I enjoyed the characters and the plot was generally consistent.
Contemporary mysteries are not my usual genre of book; I tend to lean toward the action based novels, so it did not earn full stars for me.
At times, I found myself resisting the urge to scream at the characters for various reasons. First of all, who names their kid "Nearly"?! I found it a bit strange. Sometimes Nearly clearly didn't use her head, and that got to me. Some things were a bit unrealistic and difficult to understand why that would happen in a present day novel.
Overall, I enjoyed this book, but, again, was not the full-star-earner I was hoping for.

This book was the perfect break to my criminal minds binge. I honestly wasn’t expecting to enjoy this book as much as I did. The author did a really good job keeping me on the edge of my seat the whole time. I honestly didn’t see the ending coming and I’m so excited to read the second!!
Absolutely phenomenal and SMART mystery from debut author Cosimano -- who, thank goodness, informed me after I read this that there IS another Nearly novel due out next year! I loved the characters and OH MY GOODNESS I think I literally drooled on the book anytime the completely swoon-worthy bad boy made an appearance. Yes, I am officially in love with a made-up character, and no, it does not bother me at all! I thought all the characters were so well-drawn, in fact, and I really felt like I got to know them over the course of the book. As for the mystery, I thought I knew who the culprit was, but I was definitely thrown off a few times - I found myself actually questioning right along with Nearly a few people I didn't want to have any doubt in. Oh, and one last nerd note: my husband is a chemist, so I enjoyed the hook of the killer writing notes using the periodic table and elements' abbreviations and atomic numbers ;-)
I loved this book and would highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys a good mystery, a smart, tough, insecure yet ultimately strong heroine, and (of course) really, really (REALLY) hot bad boys! I borrowed this from the library but want my own copy, and I definitely plan to read it again before book two drops next year.

IT WAS SO GOOD. The perfect mix of murder, mystery, romance, and plot twist, Elle Cosimano created a perfect story that will keep you turning pages all night.
